My Turn- The 11 Things Survey

in Survey

Wahoo for it being the weekend!

After a first and busy week of classes and internship (sharing the news next week), I am quite ready for the weekend! I find that when I am busier during the week, with school, homework, RA job and such, I value my days off so much more because I feel like I actually worked hard for them. I mean as much as I loved having pretty much nothing to do during winter break, it’s nice being more productive and engaging once again, while also establishing a new routine for the semester.

Instead of doing a standard “Friday Favorites” post, I am going to take the chance to fill in the questionnaire/survey thing that has been circulating around the blogging community! I truly enjoy reading these when other bloggers fill them out as it gives me a chance to know just a bit more about them. I mean we all talk so much about whatever thoughts flow through our heads, but learning about the actual PERSON is kind of nice.

In my case, I blurt out whatever thoughts are raging through my head, completely uncensored… usually related to recovering from my disordered eating. However, while this illness is a part of me, it does not define my existence, so reporting on other aspects about myself is a welcome change spacer

I hope you are not incredibly sick of these already… erry sorry if you are in that case!

Anyway, both Kate and Lindsay tagged me for this (thanks ladies!) so I am going to take some questions from each of the ones they propose!

Here are the rules:
#1 You must post these rules.
#2 Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
#3 Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.

Those seem awfully demanding, so let’s get to it spacer

1) I used to ride horses Equestrian style when I was younger. Each summer I would go to a horse camp in New Hampshire and spend two weeks there learning to ride! However, it is a majorly expensive sport and alas, staying committed was just way too much money. That doesn’t mean I still don’t love to ride though and I hope to own my own horses one day spacer

June 1990, I was not even a year old! With my dad spacer

spacer

2) I am going to go ahead and toot my own horn here… I am pretty dang good at Dance Dance Revolution (DDR).. anyone remember that game? Majorly popular a few years ago, before Wii Fit and similar games came out. My friend Mandy and I would practice for HOURS and be sweaty beasts by the end. Killer workout, yet it was nice not think of the game that way at that young age, it was purely for enjoyment. And yes, I used to be one of those weirdo kids that would spend way too much time in the mall arcade playing DDR.

spacer

3) One of my biggest fears is throwing up. Like… it’s hard to describe how much of a problem I have with this. Now of course, no one enjoys barfing, it’s a terrible feeling. But when I feel nauseous? Well it’s not pretty and I get way overly-hysterical and go a bit nuts. I also have this “ability” to will myself not to throw up, which in turn just makes me feel 10x worse for a longer period of time. I am working on this though and trying to convince myself that the world will not end if I vommm.

4) I have a bit of an obsession with scarves. I cannot resist buying them (well I can, but you know) and I think they look great paired with pretty much any outfit!

spacer

5) My Pandora bracelet is one of my most favorite things I own and each individual bead has a meaning and story behind it.

spacer

6) I never travel anywhere without my horse, Duchess. She has been with me for YEARS! Duchess’s name came from the back of the Barbie Riding Club CD Rom box, a game I would play for far too many hours on our computer supporting Windows 95.

spacer

7) I always involved in at least two pleasure reads... one on my Kindle and one that I am listening to. On that note, listening to books while I walk to class, clean, drive in the car, organize, etc, is such a delightful part of my day. It allows me to escape and focus on the book while completing activities I might not want to.

spacer

spacer This is one of my favorite quotes when referring to a man... Men are like buses. If you miss one there is always another on the way.” I have been hurt many times in my past, and quite frankly I am tired of it. However, this small reminder is both helpful and nice to hear, especially when I am feeling a bit down on myself because of the (lack of) relationship situation.

Or I will have Leo instead… first celeb crush spacer

spacer

9) I kept this picture of OIAJ for a very specific reason… it was the first time ever experiencing this kind of dish and it was also one of the scariest items I had ever eaten. This was consumed back in April 2011 and it contained every possible ingredient that terrified me, aka would lead to a 15 pound weight gain- oats, chia seeds, banana, 1% milk and about 1.5 tablespoons of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter. It turned out to be overwhelmingly tasty and memorable apparently spacer

spacer

10) I don’t act like a “girly-girl” (whatever that means exactly) but I do have girly things… like this canopy over my bed. I wanted to be a princess more than anything as a kid, and this helps to fulfill my dreams spacer

spacer

11) I would much rather go on a tropical vacation than tour around Europe. I believe this is because I have never gone anywhere tropical ( I am talking St. Lucia, Croix, Bermuda, kind of places) and it’s the type of location I have longed to visit.. one day! After it will be time for some European history spacer

spacer

Phew yay for facts!

And now, Kate and Lindsay’s Questions! (a mix)

1. Do you prefer sweet or savory? Sweet for sure!! Have you seen my Pinterest board?

2. If you could go anywhere in the world at this very moment, where would you go? To go along with the above dream tropical location… I am going to go with Hawaii for this one.
spacer
3. favorite childhood cereal? Too many to choose from! I would go through phases and eat one to death until I was completely sick of it. Some that come to mind, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reeses Puffs, Alpha Bits, Golden Grahams, Crunch Berries, Waffle Crisp and Cinnamon Life!

4. the WORST book you’ve ever read? I am sorry to all you fans out there, but I just do not like Shakespeare! However, that opinion is coming from my 10th grade self where I was forced to analyze countless novels. Maybe I would enjoy him more now?

5. favorite season? Summer fo sho.
spacer

7. How do you drink your coffee? A dollop of Half & Half and splenda, and Dunks is what I crave spacer

8. What do you think is your best feature? I really like my eyes.
spacer

9. Something that’s a pet peeve of yours? When driving behind someone that does not put their signal on to make a turn. I want to bash into them, have that satisfaction but then rewind. Road rage much?
10. What is your favorite beauty product? My Babyliss hair straighter! It does the job in about 6 minutes.

spacer

11. What is your favorite form of exercise? Right now it is hard-core circuit training! I look forward to these workouts so much more than running at the moment!

And finally, my 11 questions are,

1) What is a weird and/or interesting quirk you have?

2) If you could date an action hero (Batman, Superman, Spiderman, etc.) who would it be?

3) What would you say is your favorite book of all time?

4) If you could drop everything right now and rush off to a vacation, where would your ideal location be?

5) If you had the ability run any race or compete in any sporting event in the world, what would it be?

6) What is your favorite store (Food, clothes, hourseware)?

7) What would be your “last meal?”

spacer What is something you never leave the house without?

9) Are you an only child or do you have siblings? Describe them if you do spacer

10) What workout are you currently loving?

11) What is a goal in life you are striving to achieve?

And now I am going to tag these awesome-sauce ladies,

Rachel @ Eat, Learn, Discover

Kiah @ Good For Me Girl

Sophie @ Love, Live And Learn

Ashley @ Rhythm Of My Mind

Liz @ I Heart Vegetables

*Please share your thoughts!

-Can we relate on any of these?

-Care to share any circuit workouts you are currently loving? I am always on the lookout for new routines spacer

-Are they any irrational(ish) fears you have like I do with throwing up?

-How is your weekend going thus far?

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

LOVE this post, Tessa! Oh goodness, I can *definitely* relate…Where to begin?

I have a slight obsession with scarves as well; they fill two drawers in one of my dressers! I think they’re the perfect accessory–lots of fun, but drama free. spacer

My Pandora bracelet is near and dear to my heart. I only wear it on special occasions, but that’s because I want to protect each of the charms and what they represent. Each one symbolizes a special time, place or moment in my life!

Love the man quote…and Leo! I’d like to steal Duchess (so cute!), and take a tropical vacation…tomorrow. spacer Summer IS definitely the best season. AND, I have a completely irrational fear about throwing up as well (have my entire life)! I used to keep a bowl by my bed when I was young “just in case.” Haha…it’s debilitating at times! Even to this day, I can’t be near someone who’s been sick!

Finally, I have yet to try oats in a jar…Am I missing out big time? <3

Debilitating is the correct word to describe the irrational fear of barfing… so so true!

I love surveys! So fun. spacer I’m so much more a fan of running than circuit training, heh. And I love scarves too – but the weather here is so hot all the time, it would be impractical to buy one.

Well perhaps just a light spring scarf as an accessory would do the trick? spacer

aaah we have so much in common!! I have a canopy over my bed too (at home, I sadly didn’t take it to college) and it’s going to STAY there. it makes me feel like a princess! I love that quote about men too, i’ve only been in 3 relationships, all really serious, all ended with me getting burned hah. But I guess I’d rather just have faith that there’s a nice guy out there than adopt the “stay far away from men, they suck” attitude! Also, I love that you have a stuffed horse that goes everywhere with you, I have a stuffed unicorn named Flurry! she came to college with me too and sat on my shelf next to my shot glasses….uh, i mean, textbooks….lol. Leo was my first celeb crush too, and I too have an obsession with scarves!! I have a section of my wall devoted to displaying them lol. Oh and I am also afraid of throwing up. 95% of the time i feel SO much better once I do, but that hour or so beforehand….agonizing, there isn’t a worse feeling in the world haha. Happy Weekend!!!!!!

Let’s both keep hanging onto that quote… I truly believe it! I do take on that attitude sometimes (when I am in a foul mood) but it is just not helpful!
I hope you have are having a great weekend Kate and are feeling better spacer

Throwing up grosses me out too! I have a friend who makes herself puke after drinking a lot to avoid a hangover the next morning! The idea of it scares me! I love that u saved that pic of OIAJ- I remember staying far far away from pb for a long time because god forbid I intentionally eat fat!

I’m so with you on number 3! I can’t believe I’m not the only one – I can’t even do the strep tests at the doctor’s, because it makes me feel like I’m gagging. Boo! spacer

But sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet TRUMPS savory! YAAAAAAAAAAAY =D. So gonna go Pinkberry it up. Oh wait, it’s 8am. Okay, I’ll wait a few hours. But then? *It’s on like Donkey Kong.*

And I’ve never been anywhere tropical, either! I so need to get to Hawaii someday – or, better yet, Fiji. Let’s just go whole-horse here, guys. spacer

Happy Saturday! Thanks for sharing, and yes, I can relate to so much of what you shared! One thing that really stands out for me is your fear of throwing up because I have the same fear!!! Its really one of my only fears, but it is bad! Like you, I was an RA during undergraduate, and anytime I had a sick resident, whether because of actual sickeness or because of drinking too much, I had to call another RA on staff to help because I just couldn’t stand the smell, behavior, etc…..

Looking forward to hearing about your internship next week, and I hope you don’t mind, but I started following of your pintrest boards this morning too spacer

Have a great weekend!!! MC

Hhahaha so true about the RA situation! Anytime I smelled/saw it, I immediately called back up and tried not to flip out.
I am psyched you like my Pinterest boards! Pin away spacer

I used to horseback ride as well! I LOVED it, and sometimes I definitely miss it.
I have a really silly kind of embarrassing fear – in the fall, there are always deer hanging out eating the grass outside of our apartment building. When I leave the building in the morning when it’s still dark to go run, I’ve learned to avoid them, but I’m always terrified that they will chase me. Fortunately now it’s winter and they are gone spacer
Have a great weekend!
