Uh-oh. Hale knows how to remove his diaper. I walked in and he was bottomless, holding his wet dipe up.

Hale had his first chips and salsa today. He loved it.

Daddy Come Home

Owen cut his foot open (minor, but enough to bleed) and Hale broke a glass, grabbed at it and gave me heart palpitations. All before 9:30 a.m.

It has taken a lot of practice, but Hale has mastered the kiss. We haven’t gotten it with a camera yet, but he leans, mouth closed, smooches, and leans back.

Owen was about this age when he finally figured out the mouth closing part. Maybe even a little older. These photos are of Owen, March 2006.

And I am throwing in this photo of Owen for free. It has nothing to do with the note above, but it is too precious to keep to myself. How he has grown!

Look out, NYC

LaShika and I mentioned a few times that it has been years since her last visit. We came up with 2008 as the last year. We took her out to the Gaylord Texan to see Christmas decorations and I looked at my Flickr photos. It was 2007! Three years since her last visit and it could have been last week.

You know it’s a lasting friendship when you can go three years without physically being next to someone and just pick up where you last left off.

LaShika and I met on a city bus in Denton, Texas way back when (after Jeremy tricked me into moving away from Austin). She started the conversation and we’ve been friends since. At my wedding in 2003, LaShika was my maid of honor. In her toast to us, she talked about the love that brought family and friends together that September day and how it was love that made her reach out to me, a stranger, on a bus, years before. I haven’t heard a better wedding toast since.

Anyway, her visit this time was three days long — much too short. Hale was/is teething and waas/is not the most fun baby to be around. We agreed that the next visit will be me going to see her, instead of another trip to Texas. I can’t wait. Here are a few photos from her much, much too brief visit.

Owen had his Kinder class Christmas party on Thursday, the final full day of school before winter break. I took Hale because I didn’t have child care, but it worked out beautifully. Hale loved every minute and Owen was happy to have his baby tag along.

DIY Amusement Park (VIDEOs)

Owen and Jeremy continue their California adventure at Disney Land and today Jeremy posted this video riding the Matterhorn.

Not to be outdone, this morning Hale made a leaf slide and probably had as much fun as his big brother did.
