A little bit about me and this blog. . . .

spacer

Ok – so I’m a little embarrassed to admit it. But only a little. I’m a late-comer to just about everything. Skinny jeans? Just bought my first pair about three months ago. Ballet flats? Last winter. My first iPod? 4th generation. Movies? Well, we went to dinner with friends two weeks ago and they confirmed what my husband has always endearingly tolerated about me – I haven’t seen most of them. Any of them – the classics. Star Wars? only parts. Rocky? Only parts. The Goonies? Only parts. I could go on, but I can’t remember the names. My movie knowledge is severely lacking.
I think you might be getting my point: I am late to the blogging scene. Why would it be any different? I am happy where I am. It’s not that I didn’t know blogging existed, or what it was, but I certainly never understood the craze over it. That is, until I stumbled upon Annies-Eats in my Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Because yes – I am somewhat obsessed with magazines and books. And then, thank you Annie (and Pinch of Yum, and Jenn Cuisine, and Joy the Baker to highlight just a few), I became enthralled with the world of blogging.
My name is Sara. I am a wife, a mother, an artist (a painter mostly, and amateur photographer pining for a fancy new camera), an avid reader, and a believer in philanthropy. I LOVE to bake, I find the kitchen therapeutic, and I enjoy the challenge of writing – because honestly, most of the time I feel like my brain is stuck in mommy-mode.
I am a mom to a teen, a tween, a grade-schooler, and a toddler. They keep me happy and busy most of the time, and leave me spinning in circles scratching my head at least part of the time.
At the core of who I am, I believe in appreciating the loveliness of life as it already is. So many little things in life are special and change the way we relate to every day. This is what Home is Where The Cookies Are is all about – those little things that have the power to draw up and create memories – pleasantries that delight our taste buds, our hearts, and our minds, but might otherwise go unnoticed. It’s about making the most of what we already have, loving every bit of it, and finding a way to pass it on to others.
I hope you will come back and visit, and enjoy what I have to share.
I would love, love, LOVE to hear from you. Feel free to leave a comment below, or email me at:

Thanks!!

    Sara,
Nice blog. I can really relate to your 6-year-old-sweet-tooth+adult decision-making-freedom, ‘cept in my case, I blew right by the stomachache and went straight to the “big belly sitiation.” Well, not right to it; it took years of adult decision-making! And yes, it is a “perpetiatin’ sitiation.” Maybe a future topic could be about ways to make a mole hill out of a mountain.
Keep up the good work. Meanwhile I’m going to grab a Reese’s and contemplate my next weight-loss effort.

What a happy surprise. I think this is a great idea Sara. You are truly muti- talented and I’m glad that you’re sharing that with all of us. I really enjoyed the craft with hanging photos. I would never have tried painting Colin’s feet white but love the concept and the result. Have fun.

Thanks!! Yes – that’s why all that “painting” took place outside. Could have spelled disaster!

Wow!!! It actually brought tears to my eyes. I can’t even begin to express to you how proud of you I am and how much I admire you as a person, friend, wife, and mother!!!! I am absolutely speechless at what a fantastic job you have done on this. And with what time??? somewhere between dropping off the kids at school, running, taking a shower, baking, washing 10 loads of laundry, spending time with LL, picking the kids up from school, cooking, basketball practice, TKD, bathing the kids, tucking them in, washing dishes….phew, I’m tired already!!!!!
All kidding aside, you are absolutely AMAZING, my friend, and I am honored to have you in my life. I can’t wait to see what more you have in store for us!!!!
    xxoo

    Hello, dearest Sara-
This is so much fun! In reading your blog I feel like I can reconnect with you and your precious family even though we are miles apart. Don’t know how you do it, but you do it all very well and always with such grace and humor. spacer I am uplifted and inspired. Can’t wait to try your craft projects and recipes! Now I just need to… “step away from the computer” and put it all into action. I’ll be thinking of you and smiling all the while. Loads of hugs all around (would that be LHAA? or LOHAA?), Aunt Mary …the technology newbee
