Hi y’all! My name is Heather and I’m the writer and publisher of Heather’s Dish. Welcome!
My true loves are God, my family, my friends, puppies, margaritas, chips & salsa, bread & butter, Texas and working out (really!).
I highly dislike doing laundry, dusting, cigarette smoke and passive aggressiveness. Oh, and cats scare the crap out of me. It’s true.
I think the best way to get to know someone is over food. Here you’ll find out that I’m always game for something new, but there’s nothing quite like the classics to soothe my soul. I like to share the inspiration behind the recipes I make, the little notes I have, and the random facts about my life. I like to post some things that are healthy, some things that are anything but, and all the stuff in between. Don’t expect a food genre when you come to Heather’s Dish – I like to keep you guessing!
On my ‘The Dish’ page you can find random musings on life, photography, pregnancy, and soon-to-be mommyhood. I may talk about serious things like the miscarriage I had in February 2011, funny things like crazy dreams instigated by pregnancy hormones, or photographs that either I or my husband have taken. It’s a free-for-all, and that’s the way (uh-huh uh-huh) I like it.
I’m a native Texan dwelling in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I love living life with my incredible taste-testing husband Nate and our two dogs – Bunker, a 5 year old Chocolate Lab/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix who’s as sassy as they come, and Keira – a 2 year old black lab mix who is every bit the baby girl princess. They are amazing, stubborn, saucy, and I love them. We are also about to welcome our first baby to the world in February or March 2012. He is so very loved already!

Heather, stumbled across your blog because of a comment you posted somewhere and I really like it!!!
I just lost my last annoying little kilo’s by running and maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Noticed that by cooking everything yourself, and deleting most ‘readymade’ crap, you loose a couple of pounds already. And if you make everything yourself, you just feel healthier instantly. On top of that, as soon as I stopped focussing too much on losing the weight and started focussing and fueling my body with healthy things and trying to enjoy running to get fit, it just went away on it’s own!
I have never felt this good in my life!!!!!

Hey Heather – just found your blog! My husband and I used to live in Colorado (Westminster and Thornton) for 3 years before moving back to NC. I miss CO SOOOOO much!! Go hiking in the crisp, bug free air for me!

I’m so glad I stumbled across your blog today… it seems like you have a wonderful and blessed life and I’m so excited that you and your husband are soon-to-be annoying, nagging, overly-loving, awesome parents who will spoil their kids with tasty treats and lab pups.
