The Beer Moth

Take a look at this conversion located in Inverness-shire, Scotland dubbed “The Beer Moth”. Surpassing it’s intended use as a fire service truck, it now houses guests as a vacation rental. The Beer Moth, which is a 1956 Conmer Q4 rescued by Walter, the current owner and now sits at his called called “The Inshriach House.”
Here in the states it would be quite easy to acquire an old military vehicle similar to this with a canvas back and perform a similar restoration as The Beer Moth to make nice little tiny house on wheels.
Here are some photos of The Beer Moth. Enjoy.
Walter started the conversion by raising the roof of the truck by a foot to allow for more head clearance. The vacation home has a double bed and can comfortably accommodate a couple.
The living area of the truck is heated by a wood-burning stove to keep guests toasty and has a kitchenette to prepare meals.
Salvaged oak parquet wood from an old home was used to create the flooring. An old door from
one of the cottages on Walter’s property was used as the rear door.
The Beer Moth was a firetruck before it became a tiny vacation house on wheels.

Is that the original canvas? I wonder how well it repels water.
This is so cool.
Is that wood stove the kind you cook on?

Hi Jody. I’m quite sure this isn’t the original canvas but it is the type that’s made to repel water. The wood stove is the kind that doubles as a cookstove. Two birds with one stone.

I’m going to put that wood/cook stove in my notes for future reference. They should really have a modern day version of it. Cause it’s truly two birds with one stone, and a space saver.
