About

Elizabeth (aka Miss Wisabus)

My name is Elizabeth. Some people call me Liz, but unless you know me really well I would prefer Elizabeth. Sometimes I accidentally introduce myself as Liz and I don’t know…I would just rather be thought of as an “Elizabeth” than a “Liz.” I’m actually pretty partial to Lizzybeth, which is what my Granny Wynema calls me. My parents thought about naming me Charlotte. I’m really glad they didn’t.

I was born on November 14, 1984 and gifts are welcome. Anytime.

I’m married to my favorite guy, have no children (though I aspire to have four or five someday), but do have a dog who loves my husband so much more than she loves me. I don’t blame her. He’s cute and cuddly. Clarabel Dolores is a Scoodle and she was born on Heather’s wedding day, January 5, 2008.

I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing. I have a job, but what I really enjoy is being at home and keeping a place for me and Kevin to live and be happy and build a family. I work on GodlyGals (a ministry I founded with a friend in 2002) and my writing the rest of the time.

I’m the oldest of three. I have two younger brothers, which means I know a thing or two about being a bossy pants.

I grew up in rural Oklahoma, had a good childhood, went to the school that was the inspiration for Footloose, and lived my own real life version of the movie. I honestly believe that my life should be the basis for a sequel (it couldn’t possibly be any worse than Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights). Girl’s parents almost don’t let her go to prom, girl goes to prom, girl goes on to take ballroom dancing classes, becomes world famous dancer and appears on Dancing with the Stars as John Krasinski‘s professional partner. Okay, so maybe the last bit hasn’t happened yet. Just wait.

I love The Office (uh…everything before Season 4). And clean bathrooms, LOST (*sniffle* I miss you so much), cooking, 2-year-olds, fake cheese, and a man born in February. His name is Kevin. And we look stinkin’ cute together. We got married June 6, 2009.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

I have a difficult time deciding what this blog is about. Really…it’s a lot of things. I take lots of photos and post them from time to time. I try out weird recipes on my husband and I do a lot of baking. There’s often photographic evidence of this as well. I read a lot and sometimes get wrapped up in good TV shows. I have opinions on a lot of things and I share them occasionally. My faith is very important to me and I talk about that quite a bit, too. I live in a small city and I hate it. I tend to wax nostalgic about my hometown and life in the country more often than not.

Basically, now, this blog is me making my attempt to return to the country — and take my City Boy husband with me — very public. Think of it as Green Acres, only sorta reversed. Because Kevin is the Eva Gabor character.

People I Talk About Every Once-in-a-while Whose Names You Might Need To Know So This Whole Thing Doesn’t Confuse You:

Kevin: My husband as of June 6, 2009. Before that he was the fiance (June 28, 2008 to June 6, 2009) and before that the boyfriend (December 9, 2006 to June 28, 2008)
Mom & Dad: Pretty clear. They live 50 miles south of me in my hometown, Pernell, OK. Basically half of what I talk about is getting my tail out of the city and back to the country, as close as possible to Pernell while still close enough to the metro that my husband can commute to work.
Kyle: My middle brother. Studying to be a minister. Couch crasher, guitar player…what else can I say. He lived with me in my current house from August 2005 to May 2006.
Ryan: Youngest brother. Going into the family business like any smart kid would. We used to get in trouble for calling him “Rino” as a kid but now it’s the cool thing or something.
Granny & Paw Paw: My paternal grandparents. Their house has been a second home to me my entire life. I couldn’t be any closer to them unless they’d raised me.
Heather (and Colt): Best pal from college, second cousin (my Paw Paw and her Granny are brother and sister; we share great-grandparents), and former roommate. She used to live in this house with me, off-and-on, multiple times throughout the years. Now she’s married to Colt and he’s a youth minister.
