Prepare to Bid on these Cool Vintage Ski Posters, on Auction Wednesday
A mogul-size pile of vintage advertisements goes up for auction on Wednesday, in Christie’s The Ski Sale. “Most of the posters date from 1910 to about 1950,” says Sophie Churcher, a specialist at Christie’s. “The most popular era tends to be the 1920s and 30s, when skiing was at its most glamorous and exclusive, and the Art Deco movement was in full swing." All of the posters are from their original print run and have estimates ranging from $900 to $30,000. The sale starts at 1 p.m. at Christie’s London auction house in South Kensington (you can also participate online), so check out a few that caught our eye to plan your bidding strategy.
