Hi friends! Ana here from Grown-up Shoes, excited to introduce my new monthly column, where I’ll be bringing you a party idea inspired by one of my favorite ladies of literature, art, film or real life. From cocktails to canapés, I hope these ideas will get you thinking about the fun you can have hosting your own seasonal soirees. DIY :: Valentine’s Matchbox Wraps

by Chanel Dror

spacer

I have the fondest memories of school on Valentine’s Day, don’t you? I remember leaving the house decked out in shades of red and pink (uniform permitting), and handing out sweet little valentine’s to everyone I knew. Whether it was a piece of candy or tiny cards with names handwritten on them, the day was always buzzing with friendly exchanges between classmates. This year, I’ve decided to revive the tradition (grownup style) by creating these matchbox valentines. Small and economical, they’re perfect for handing out on the days leading up to the 14th… and since I’m totally feeling the love these days, I couldn’t resist sharing the idea with all of you! Keep reading for the downloadable template and piece-of-cake instructions! more +

Don’t get me wrong, I am so enjoying all the love in the air this time of year. I love love as much as the next girl, but I have to wonder, why don’t we celebrate it all year round? I’m totally dwelling on the thought of a world where we shower loved ones with kisses and tokens of our affection regularly… so much so, that I’ve made it a Valentine’s Day resolution for myself to love a little more this year (aww, sweet isn’t it?) The first step: spruce up the pad with some lovey-dovey graphics for a daily reminder, and these prints from coniLab are just the ticket! Follow the jump for some more heart-warming designs. Which is your favorite? more +

by clairezinnecker

Morning, everyone! Claire here, with a great little project to add interest and storage to any space. Remember two weeks ago when I asked for your opinion on which side table you liked the best? You all had so many wonderful suggestions, but in the end, the votes leaned in favor of design #1.  I’m so excited to share the final product today, with a few personal touches added in! Want to make your own? We’ve got the instructions after the jump. more +

DIY :: My Brass Valentine

by Chanel Dror

spacer

On the agenda for the next few days: craft like a mad woman with hopes of sending cards out in time for delivery by the 14th. But this year I wanted the Valentines to be special… so I’m thinking that my friends and family might be pleasantly surprised to open an envelope and find a handmade metal card (paper is so last year), with an embossed message. Don’t be intimidated! This was actually super easy to make, and I love the thought of a little brass card living in the folds of a wallet as a keepsake, and a daily reminder of a shared love (of course, you’ll want to be mindful of it going through airport security!) Keep reading for the instructions, and I’d love to know what Valentine’s you’re all creating this year. more +

Michelle here, and I’m so excited to be one of the two newest additions to the Camille Styles Team (have you met Coco?). Welcome to the first installment of Do You Dare, where I’ll be shedding some light on the edgiest trends of the moment, and asking you all for your expert opinions on the matter. Tuesday Tastings :: Valentine’s Pancakes

by Camille Styles

spacer

Is there anyone else who agrees that breakfast might just be the most romantic meal of the day? The kind of breakfast that’s long and leisurely, enjoyed from the comfort of bed or at least while still in pajamas? Since my honey’s idea of heaven is a stack of fluffy pancakes drizzled with maple syrup, I’ll definitely be waking him up with these heart-shaped cranberry-studded ones on Valentine’s Day. I’ll set the scene with steaming cups of coffee in my bone china teacups, a bowl of ripe strawberries sprinkled with sugar and a small bunch of frilly white flowers. Keep reading for the details of this breakfast for two and the recipe for my heart-shaped cranberry buttermilk pancakes!  more +
