Shipping Container Architecture is becoming  increasingly popular with companies converting the containers into Office spaces, emergency housing, movie theatres and other innovative spaces. The containers have also been used for market stalls and warehouses; the largest shopping center/ organised market in Europe is made up of aisles of stacked shipping containers.

Movie Theatre

Wired.com published a recent article that shows shipping containers that have been transformed into brightly painted movie theatres or “screening pods”. Images- USA Network.

Art Center

Artists Jonathan Sears and Chris Hoeting (ParProjects) are working with the community of Northside, USA to create an art and education center out of shipping containers.

The Box Office

The box office is a 12 unit, eco-friendly office and studio building made from 32 recycled shipping containers. The space was designed by Distill Studio and developed by Truth Box Inc.

Container Bar

The Container bar, located in Austin, Texas is made entirely out of Shipping Containers and designed by Big Red Dog.

Emergency Shelters

Shipping Containers have been used to help in the aftermath of natural disasters such as the Haiti Earthquake.
