Our Mission

Our mission is to create learning communities in lower income urban areas where all students, particularly those who have not succeeded in traditional schools, can reach their potential and prepare for college, career, and a lifetime of success. At Maya Angelou our students develop the academic, social, and employment skills they need to build rewarding lives and promote positive change.

In support of our students, See Forever’s role is to:

  • Forge partnerships and build institutional relationships in support of our students and our school.
  • Develop operational and administrative systems that let our school leaders concentrate on students and instruction.
  • Raise capital, special projects, and general operating funding so that we can provide the sort of programming our students need and deserve.
  • Advocate locally and nationally in support of urban education, job training, and juvenile justice reform.

Our programs are creating lasting change in the lives of our students, and more broadly, helping to break a cycle of poverty created by broken social and educational systems. Students who have been incarcerated enroll in our charter schools; MAPCS middle school students enroll at our high school campuses; and our high school graduates enroll in college and universities across the country. We are changing lives, one student, one day, and one success story at a time.
