Terrence Malick has directed only 5 films in the last 40 years, but now he has 4 films either in post-production or pre-production.

Two of these films will star Natalie Portman.

A rep for Natalie Portman confirms that the Oscar winner is set to take her first post-Oscar film roles in Malick’s next two projects, Lawless and Knight of Cups.

Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett will also pull double duty in both films, which are reportedly shooting back-to-back, while Rooney Mara and Ryan Gosling will join the troupe on Lawless. As usual for Malick’s movies, plot details for these projects are being kept totally under wraps.

This has Oscar written all over it.

The Charles Dickens biopic entitled The Invisible Woman; is all set to be directed by Ralph Fiennes. He will also star as Dickens himself. This will be less of a full biopic and more about a specific time in the great author’s life.

Felicity Jones has signed on to co-star, playing the part of Nelly Ternan, the woman behind the controversial affair that lasted over 13 years all while Dickens was married.

Based on Claire Tomalin‘s non-fiction novel, the script is penned by Shame‘s Abi Morgan and will explore the relationship between the middle-aged Dickens and his much younger mistress.

Naomi Watts has signed to play British icon Princess Diana in Oliver Hirschbiegel‘s big screen portrait Caught In Flight.

Hirschbiegel directs Watts based on the screenplay by Stephen Jeffreys, with production set to begin in the U.K. later this year.

Billed as a compelling portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales during the last two years of her life, the script charts her search for personal happiness as she turned into a major international campaigner and humanitarian.

“I am thrilled to be making The Tomb with two film icons — Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger,” said producer Mark Canton (300), in a statement. “It is the perfect pairing for this high octane thriller.”

Schwarzenegger and Stallone also have the Expendables sequel coming out this summer.
