The Oblivious Blog Guest Reviews: Kiehl’s & Dermalogica

I have to say, one of the awesome things about being on various forums and social networks over the years is making friends with smart, talented people. One of those friends is the gorgeous Helen from The Oblivious Blog.

As my laptop is still kput, she’s been gorgeous enough to step in and do a guest blog for me! If you’ve ever wanted to try Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser, Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Toner or Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque, have a read of her reviews below -

Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner
I stopped using toners in my early teens, after some nasty (burning!) anti-acne treatments gone wrong. I always remembered toners as being harsh, burning liquids that caused my skin to get very tight. I was a little hesitant to try this, as a result. The first positive thing I noticed about this is that it is alcohol free. It has fully intact flower petals floating in it (which you can see!), which I liked, again because of my affinity to natural ingredients. It has a pleasant odour, slightly strong and earthy, sort of like herbal tea.

I noticed a difference when I used this over an area on my forehead which I had started to break out in, which noticeably improved it. No burning at all occurs, and it is quite easy to smooth over with a cotton pad. After drying instantly, I follow with moisturiser.

I probably won’t need to purchase this again, as my skin is usually dry, but if I ever start breaking out and getting oilier, this will be at the top of my shopping list.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer

This is an a moisturiser for all skin types. It doesn’t contain any SPF, so its great for night time, especially because my face always goes white in photos, from the SPF in my moisturiser or foundation! It is a lotion consistency, and I’ve been told it is also available in a cream formula.

It is absorbed very well, and doesn’t leave your skin shiny or greasy, yet it hydrates wonderfully. I have trouble with dry skin, especially through winter, and it preps my skin wonderfully for foundation, which lasts all day without getting too dry or flakey.

It has a pleasant but not overpowering smell, and as far as I can tell, contains no silicons or parabens. It contains sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil and avocado oil, which is what I like to see in my skincare products – natural ingredients!

After using it for two weeks, my skin hasn’t broken out, which I’ve had trouble in the past with other moisturisers, despite suffering from dryness, and it is looking nice and smooth. I’ll definitely be looking to purchase this when I run out!

Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque

I absolutely love this masque! I’ve been searching for a long time for something to rehydrate my skin when nothing else seems to work. It is a gel formula that feels nice and refreshing when applied. After leaving it on for 10-15 minutes, and rinsing off, my skin was definitely rehydrated and supple, and I noticed a definite ‘glow’ the next morning. Judging by the ingredients, this too, has lots of natural extracts.

I’ve only used it once, but I think I’ll have to look into purchasing this as well.

Cost?
US: $37.00
Australia: $61.50
UK: £30.50

Such great reviews, I have a sample of another Kiehls toner in my ‘to use’ basket and think I might pull it out and give it a go. I am a sucker for hydrating masks, too, so this seems like a great idea!

Hi, I’ve been curious about the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque for some time now so thanks for the review! I use Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream on a regular basis and I have to say it’s one of my absolute favourite moisturisers.

I just got my Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner in the mail today (from your awesome giveaway!) and have to say it’s great! Of course, it’s only day 1 using it, but such a nice feeling and not too dryed out or tight. Nice and refreshing spacer

I’ve been using the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser and the Kiehl’s Abssine Serum since the beginning of the year and have been impressed. I get an oily t-zone but find that the moisturiser is light weight and doesn’t slick me up! I only use the serum at night, even though it says to use it in the mornings too.
