Circa 1908. Located in Monte Vista historic district, this two-story white inn has a natural wood balcony built over the front porch. The window trim is in red and green, starting the Christmas theme of the inn. (There's a Christmas tree decorated all year long.) Guest rooms open out to pecan-shaded balconies. The Victorian Bedroom offers pink and mauve touches mixed with the room's gold and black decor. The Blue & Silver Room is handicap accessible and is on the first floor. Antique furnishings in the inn are available for sale.

“Our San Antonio Home away from Home”

My husband and I stayed here during a recent Ft Sam graduation (nov17-21). After having made a few changes in our booking, we arrived late and were warmly welcomed by Penny and Margaret. Not only did we receive a military discount; but also our young soldier was offered the opportunity to stay with his parents (he was unable to) and was allowed to eat breakfast with us as well. During our stay the annual estate sale was occurring (we had been forewarned about it )-aside from the many beautiful items displayed for sale, we would not have known an estate sale was happening that weekend. The property is beautiful-huge windows, high ceilings, lovely staircase and of course the Christmas decorations were just what I needed to get into the holiday spirit. We loved the conversations and detailed information we received from both women-from the dead on restaurant suggestions-(within walking distance)to the historical aspects of San Antonio.Oh and not to be forgotten but the breakfasts were wonderful especially the pecan waffles( we loved hearing the sweet story about Grant(Penny's deceased spouse) preparing the pecans -we were touched to hear the pecans were in our waffles that morning

“Disappointed”

Dirty and had a bad smell. Location is not good for sight seeing. Walked in very junky viewed the room before paying and left to find another hotel.

Management Response
First off, the couple said that they would arrive at 10:30pm and did not show up until 11:30pm with no courtesy phone call. It was dark and therefore no indication as to where any of the town or sights were located and we are 1.5 miles from the Riverwak and Alamo. He had a conference for refrees at Trinity Univ, and we are located 5/6 blocks from that school. The smell was probably becasue we had cooked the breakfast for the next morning--onions, ham and mushrooms and the scrambled eggs, not a bad smell to me--but who knows. They went upstairs and then came down, after shutting the door to the room, and said that it was not what "she" wanted. He was polite and asked if he could pay me anything for holding the room-and I declined. He looked embarrassed and chagrined by the whole experience. Our home is not dirty--we had both other rooms filled with guests who were more than happy with the rooms. I appreciate your time and consideration. Thank you, Penny Estes

“Like Home”

My husband and I recently stayed for three nights while dropping our daughter off for college. It was a fantastic experience. Great food with warm cookies every night and great conversation. Penny is so gracious and very knowledgeable about the history of the house and area. It truly was like we were staying with family. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. My husband and I stayed here for our one year aniversary and had an excellent time! The food was great and Penny was an excellent host and the price was more than reasonable! We will revisit this B&B. Although I do have to warn you, Penny plays a mean game of gin. Our aniversary will most certainly be one to remember!
