About

May 31st, 2010 by Peter

We are Jessie and Peter Noonan.  We live together in Ballard, Wa, and love eating and drinking.  We chose the name Tomatoes on Tomatoes for this blog because of one delicious and surprising small plate we tried at a local Ballard restaurant.  It was a dish of sliced beefsteak tomatoes, vanilla  salt  and lots of olive oil.  When the dish arrived at the table, we  saw halved cherry tomatoes on top of the sliced beefsteaks.  It was a pairing we might not have imagined, and it worked so well.   For reasons like these, we have created a space where we write down fun discoveries, some of our favorite recipes,  about the places we enjoy and frequent,  and random notes,  like odd wine pairings  (Cuvee with Pho, Vernacchia with those bizarre and somewhat terrible shrimp chips).  We believe that  because eating is a necessity,  it needs to be done right, done well and enjoyed to its full potential.

Please comment away and share, as we appreciate any feedback.

Thanks for visiting.

Hi! Just stumbled on your website and love it. We (Blake and Catherine) live up in Ballard, as well (way up in the NW corner), and probably brush elbows with you in the Sunday market.
Have you made a trip to Mistral, over on Westlake? It’s definitely too expensive to do often, but the guy that owns it seems interested in the same kinds of things you are…

      Blake,
Thank you for your comment. We have not yet experienced Mistral, but will take your suggestion (a future post, perhaps!). If you and Catherine come across any other gems in the area, please let us know. We are always looking to try new places.

I want the onion soup recipe. We’re off to try The Stone House in Redmond tonight. We’ll be sure to let you know what we think if you’re interested?
