* Join the Fan Club *

spacer

Fashion meets art meets dance meets Busby Berkeley meets synchronized swimming meets Ziegfeld Follies meets fabulous feathers and Louis Vuitton shoes and bags and collides in this gorgeous little kaleidoscopic film accompanied by Strike up the Band with Judy Garland. It's so lovely I watched it 3 times, or 4. I know you don't like to read very much or watch very much, but this is beautiful, so if you have time over the weekend, you should... because it will put a smile on your face :)

* Watch the short film “Join the Fan Club” by Ruth Hogben because it's beautiful.

* Learn more about the movie at Ravished by Illusions.

* See more at LOVE Magazine

* Photos are all stills captured from the movie.

Leather Heart Key Ring DIY

spacer

A fun little leather heart keyring... just in time for Valentine's Day. Makes for a cute handmade gift for your best friend, sister, mom, daughter, or maybe even a fun clue in a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt... something along the lines of ...the key to unlock my heart sounds perfectly cheesy to me, but also very romantic.

spacer

* Thin leather
* Key ring
* Chain
* Scissors
* Bead reamer
* Pink thread
* Beading pliers

spacer
spacer

* Draw or trace 1/2 of a heart onto the suede side of your leather. Fold your leather to cut a perfect heart.

spacer

spacer

* Use your first heart as a pattern to draw your second heart.

spacer

spacer

* Place your hearts together, suede side touching. Using a bead reamer or pen, mark a pattern of dots around the edge as a guide for your stitches.

spacer

* Begin first stitch on the inside to hide your knotted end within the heart.

spacer

* Using a simple overcast or hemming stitch, stich your hearts together, making sure to keep them aligned. Tip: use a thimble on your thumb to push your needle through the leathers then grab it and pull it through with your pliers.

spacer

* Pull cotton balls apart and fill your heart for padding.

spacer

* Close your stitch again, by hiding the knot inside.

spacer

* Separate a few links from your chain.

spacer

* Attach one end to your keyring.

spacer

* Create a new hole in the corner of your heart.

spacer

* Slip a link through and then attach it to the rest of the links.

And may sunshine and happiness Surround you when you're far from home

What I'm Wearing
* Pink satin top is from Forever 21 if you can believe it! {I couldn't} I think I've had it since 2008. It's made surprisingly well and is quite luxurious for Forever 21. {obviously the satin is polyester, a miracle fabric that can literally become whatever it wants}... seen once here in April 2009
* Calvin Klein jeans from 2007 I think. Seen here in 2009.
* Vintage rhinestone necklaces wrapped as bracelets, vintage aqua bangle, thrifted.
* Silver sequined clutch I found at a little shop in the Valley a few years ago that has sadly closed down since. I think I bought about ten of these clutches and gave one to each of my girlfriends for Christmas that year. Carrying an aqua journal just because it was pretty ;)
* Gerard Yosca turquoise earrings from a GILT sale.
* Gucci vintage stripe sunglasses.
* Velvet Angels platform wedges {which are more goldish metallic than silver but because the pants covered them, I let it slide}.

* Hair: Pretty Pony Twist

* Title: lyrics from Rod Stewart - Forever Young

Ever since I fell in love with the Elie Saab spring line last week, I've had pastels on the brain which usually make their reappearance around this time every year. I think I always had a pastel Easter dress growing up. It's not quite Spring yet, but the weather here is acting like it is.

Pretty Ponytail Twist Hair Tutorial

spacer

I actually created and planned this hair tutorial last week then randomly watched the Elie Saab Spring Couture show and realized my creation was a very similar style to the hair worn in the show. And though it is gorgeous, it wasn't my original inspiration but I felt a bit obligated to refer to it.

I'm actually so happy with this pretty new style. It's casual yet sophisticated and would be just as pretty as a guest at a wedding as it would on a romantic dinner date with the husband. My version is soft and a little loose and fairly easy and really pretty {and husband approved ;}

* What I used for this tutorial:
* Scunci No-slip Grip Evolution Jelly Ponytailers
* Clear plastic Magic hair pin
* Small bobby pins

* See what my regular ponytail looks like here

* Nails: wearing Sephora by OPI "Chestnuts About You" as seen
