Corfu Island, or locally known as Kerkira, Kerkyra is the northwesternmost point of Greece in the Ionian Sea at the southern boundary with the Adriatic. The north coastal area is more open to massive tourism with most of the famous resorts developed there while the South, though popular with some of the hot targets for young people, is more oriented to family tourism. While the southern half of the island is far narrower and lower, the mountaneous North offers excellent panorama to the open sea, and the mainland to the east.
