During winter at the zoo, visit with snow leopards, polar bears, tigers, and other cold-weather creatures. Get a taste of the tropics in JungleWorld, our giant indoor rainforest, and warm up with lemurs, fossas, and tortoises inside Madagascar! Ride the enclosed Bug Carousel, catch a movie in our 4-D Theater, and check our daily schedule of enrichment demonstrations.

The Bronx Zoo is located at Fordham Road and the Bronx River Parkway. It is easily accessible by car and mass transit.

Dining Options

The Bronx Zoo is committed to providing visitors with a wide variety of high-quality meals, snacks, beverages, and desserts that include carefully prepared fresh and healthy choices. The Dancing Crane Café is open year-round, serving hot and cold dishes as well as snacks and beverages. Additional seasonal cafés, picnic areas, and snack stands are located throughout the park. Guests are also permitted to bring their own food and use the picnic areas located throughout the park.

Accessibility

For individuals with disabilities, the Bronx Zoo offers Accessibility Information maps at all entrance gates. This map provides general information on the physical, visual, and auditory accessibility of zoo grounds, exhibits, and rides. Visitors should use it along with the Bronx Zoo Map for complete information regarding exhibits, rides, and attractions.

Wheelchairs
$10.00 per day
A limited number of wheelchairs are available at each entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.You will be asked to leave a $20 deposit in addition to the rental fee for the wheelchair. We will refund your deposit when you return the wheelchair to the location where it was rented.

Strollers
Single: $10.00 per day
Double: $15.00 per day

Programs & Tours

The Bronx Zoo’s award-winning Education Department is dedicated to teaching youngsters and adults about wildlife and wild habitats through engaging, interactive programs. Our offerings for adults, families, children, and teens include guided tours, family overnights, summer programs, and opportunities to meet zoo experts and get an insider’s look at our animals and exhibits. All programs require advance reservation.

Visitor Rules

  • The Bronx Zoo is a smoke-free park. Smoking permitted in designated areas only.
  • Visitors under age 17 must be accompanied by a chaperone.
  • Do not feed our animal residents or throw things in exhibits, and stay on public paths at all times.
  • Please respect and leave untouched the plants and native wildlife around you.
  • Pets are not permitted. Guests who rely on service animals may bring them into the Zoo, provided that the animals remain properly leashed. Guests are solely responsibility for the care and control of their animals.
  • Deposit trash in designated receptacles.
  • Radios, bikes, skateboards, or scooters are not permitted in the Zoo. Playing ball is also prohibited.
  • Shirts and shoes are required at all times.
  • We reserve the right to inspect packages, bags, and containers.
  • We reserve the right to escort from zoo grounds any individuals or groups who are acting in ways deemed harmful to our animals or the park, or that impinge upon the enjoyment of the park by other guests.
  • Weapons of any kind are not allowed in the Zoo.
  • The solicitation of visitors, or the selling of any items is prohibited within the Zoo, at its entrance gates, and along boundary sidewalks.
  • During your visit, you may be videotaped or photographed by a WCS employee or authorized guest. Your admission here serves as permission for use of your image by these parties.
  • Non-commercial photography for personal use is allowed, but tripods are restricted in several exhibits, and at the discretion of zoo staff. Commercial photography and filming requests must go through the Communications Department. Please send your request to pr@wcs.org.
