Cameron Highlands it is…

January 26, 2012

And so yes, it was Cameron Highlands indeed. We decided in the morning that we should just pack our bag for a 2 night 3 day trip to Cameron Highlands since the kids agreed to stay with their grandparents in Banting. Although the plan didn’t turn out as planned coz the kids refused to go to Banting at the last minute and stayed in Klang instead.

But we drove up for 3.5 hours to get to Cameron Highlands from Subang Jaya. It was slow at first coz it started raining cats and dogs. But eventually, the rain stopped. Thank God coz I really wanted to take photos of the tea plantation.

We didn’t have a place in mind on where to stay. We didn’t make any reservations. So we thought we just show up and ask for a vacant room. But we had dinner at Bella’s Cafe first. The hotel next to it was Planter’s Hotel. We inquired their rates and the only room available was a standard room with 2 single beds for 250RM. We went to Cameronian Inn to check on their rates and was told of 160RM and 200RM.

We thought it was better to look for more options so we drove up to Bala’s Chalet. The receptionist said the room rate was RM200. He suggested we look at the room first before we decide. And so we did. We liked the room. We liked the ambiance of the hotel. So we decided to stay there and the guy gave us 180RM per night instead of RM200.

It was really a good thing we stayed at Bala’s Chalet Hotel and Restaurant. We had a good time of just relaxing and doing stuff. The only thing is… the food is very price-y. We didn’t have dinner there but we took a peek at the menu. But the next day, we ordered vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries on top. Guess how much we paid for 2? 33RM. Is it worth eating ice cream that worth? You decide. But really… I loved the place. I don’t mind going back there -with the kids- next time.

Where to Go for Chinese New Year Holiday?

January 22, 2012

It is Chinese New Year 2012 holiday. School break started yesterday. Now, I am thinking on what to do and where to go for one week that we don’t have to go to work and the kids don’t have to go to school. I am thinking of hitting Genting Highlands with a couple friends. But I am not sure if we could go and have fun, guessing Genting Highlands would probably be packed with holidayers. Roads in Kuala Lumpur andin Subang Jaya is almost empty. That means people would either be gone to their “kampong” or hometown, or they have gone to resorts and entertainment centres.

Another place to go on the list is Cameron Highlands. I can just imagine me and my husband (kids with their grandparents in Banting) going out for tea, right in the middle of tea plantation.

There are 3 famous tea plantations in Cameron Highlands:

1. Boh Tea Plantation

2. Cameron Valley Tea Plantation

3. Sungai Palas Tea Plantation

I have been to the first two. Had tea and scones at the Boh Tea plantation on our honeymoon and we always get tea and scones everytime we hit Camerons at the Cameron Valley Tea plantation because it is on the way to Tanah Rata where we usually stay.

I love the places to stay in Camerons. Set amidst lush greenery, rolling hills and majestic mountains, most hotels and apartments for rent offer a good value for money. A charming English style inn that provides the perfect blend of old world ambience and contemporary comfort. You can see a lot of those in Camerons.  With its serenity and country charm, the place surely captures the very essence of a highland holiday.

I relly hope the kids would agree to stay with their grandparents for a couple of days in Banting. If they do, we would surely drive to Camerons first thing in the morning tomorrow.

2012 Dream Destination | Egypt

January 16, 2012

I have gone to a lot of countries from different continents. USA and South America, Europe, and most part of Asia. But I have never been to the Middle East. My dream for 2012 is to go to one of the Middle Eastern countries, preferably Egypt.

Why Egypt?

Egypt is famously known for its pyramids. Everytime I go to my favorite mall, Sunway Pyramid, I am reminded to pursue my dream travel destination. And so, I really hope that I could do it before the year ends.

One of the places I would want to go in Egypt is in Sharm el Sheikh. Sharm el Sheikh is famously known as the City of Peace. Also, it is one of the most sought after when it comes to snorkeling and scuba diving. I have really been wanting to go SCUBA diving. It’s just that when I was in Phuekt, I didn’t have a chance to get a certification to dive. The time I was there, it was too expensive for me to do it.

I could snorkel though. I could snorkel for hours. Hopefully, I could getcheap holidays to sharm el sheikh and snorkel at their bay. I could imagine its beauty as the bay is near to the Red Sea.

I guess this time, I should get my underwater camera already. *Grin*
