BulkSMS is a division of Celerity Systems (Pty) Ltd. and was founded in 2000 along with its parent company. Its founders first began using SMS in 1997 to send weather updates to clients but soon realised the service had broader applications.
The result was BulkSMS.com, one of the first commercial web based messaging platforms launched globally. From the start a web based platform was selected to avoid clients having to download any software. Clients could use these services from any PC connected to the internet. Since then thousands of users across the globe have adopted the service and it now connects them to over 800 GSM networks in 180 countries.
The strategy of BulkSMS.com has always been to provide standard platforms to allow any client to quickly deploy any SMS service. This includes SMS competitions, SMS voting, SMS information services, SMS dating services, SMS campaigns or SMS for customer relationship management. Current BulkSMS clients include financial services institutions, clubs and societies, and companies that need to communicate with mobile support staff.
