TBS has given the greenlight to the new comedy series Sullivan and Son, starring popular comedian Steve Byrne and executive-produced by Vince Vaughn (The Break- Up), Peter Billingsley (Iron Man) and showrunner Rob Long (Cheers). Byrne also serves as producer on the series, which comes to TBS from Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show Productions, in association with Warner Horizon Television.read more
TCM Announces 2012 Schedule for The Essentials, Hosted by Robert Osborne and Drew Barrymore

The 12th season of TCM's signature showcase, The Essentials, will open Saturday, March 3, at 8 p.m. (ET) with the hilarious gender-bending comedy Some Like It Hot (1959). The presentation will mark the debut of actress Drew Barrymore as The Essentials' new co-host with Robert Osborne. The opening night of The Essentials will also feature a special late-night presentation of Rob Reiner's rock-and-roll mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap (1984).read more

International television executive Gerhard Zeiler will join Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) as president of Turner Broadcasting System International, the company’s global portfolio of branded television networks and related businesses, it was announced today by Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of TBS, Inc. TBS and Rooftop Comedy are teaming up for the fifth annual TBS Presents Rooftop Comedy National College Comedy Competition (NCCC), a nationwide search for America’s funniest college students. Students from 32 colleges and universities from around the country will take part in the stand-up comedy competition, presented by TBS and sponsored this year for the first time by Wendy's. The top comedians will then have the opportunity to perform at the TBS Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Chicago this June.read more

Liza Minnelli, Joel Grey, Debbie Reynolds and "Baby Peggy" Diana Serra Cary, along with film noir leading ladies Peggy Cummins, Rhonda Fleming and Marsha Hunt are the latest stars scheduled to appear at the 2012 TCM Classic Film Festival. Also announced today, the festival will feature the North American premiere of a new 75th anniversary restoration of Jean Renoir's powerful POW drama Grand Illusion (1937), widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made. And the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra will provide a live musical accompaniment for a screening of the silent Douglas Fairbanks fantasy-adventure The Thief of Bagdad (1924).read more

Screen Actors Guild presented its coveted Actor® statuette for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2011 at the “18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®” tonight at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. Honored with individual awards were Viola Davis, Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer and Octavia Spencer for performances in motion pictures and Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Paul Giamatti, Jessica Lange, Betty White, and Kate Winslet for performances in television.
