the goat farm :: our home sweet home

10Feb

Let us count the ways we loooove our studio at The Goat Farm.  Gosh.  From the moment we first saw it we just knew it was the perfect place for us.  It is so incredibly inspiring and continues to change with the light and the seasons.  We never know what will be happening day to day :: there may be a film crew, a nude photo shoot (oh yes, we have stumbled upon several), a street truck food fair … really, you just never know!  Spaces that once manufactured cotton gins are now occupied by an array of over 300 artists :: chefs, photographers, metalsmiths, set designers, painters, musicians, dancers (award-winning gloATL), and us!  There is an organic farm, a awesome little cafe (they roast their own beans and brew their own beer!), a huge studio for contemporary dance, and an education center for youth-based creative programs.  And yes! – There are lots of goats (and chickens, and a big ol’ pig named Olivia)!  To read more about The Goat Farm, visit their Facebook page, and definitely check out the event schedule.  There is always something going on.  Ohhhhh – and have you heard about PushStart Kitchen?!  spacer spacer And one of the very best parts about our studio at the Goat Farm is that we share it with Ginny Branch, stylist extraordinaire.  We love her dearly; her smiling face makes every moment we’re there just a little bit brighter.  If you haven’t already you have to check out her What’s in Your Toolbox column on Design*Sponge.  You’ll be seeing many more exciting things that we’re collaborating with Ginny on in the near future…spacer You may remember our Indian Summer workshop we hosted this past summer in our studio with Ginny!  For more photos of that see the whole feature on 100 Layer Cake.spacer spacer We also did the whole Peaches and Cream photo shoot for Martha Stewart’s ”The Bride’s Guide” at the Goat Farm, photographed by one of our favorite gals Heidi Geldhauser.spacer You also may have heard of the totally awesome sold-out Scoutmob Halloween party held at the Goat Farm this past year!  Atlanta Magazine included the Goat Farm on their “Best of Atlanta 2011” roundup, also spotlighting yours truly (see our press page to view the article)!spacer So we obviously just can’t say enough good stuff about our love for The Goat Farm.  You’ll just have to see it for yourself.  Next time you’re in our neck of the woods, please stop by and say hello!

Kelly + Drew at Cator Woolford Gardens

07Feb

Ohhhh Kelly + Drew.  One of the sweetest couples we have had the pleasure of working with, whose love for one another rubs off on everyone around them.  (You may remember seeing their adorable engagement shoot here!)  From the moment we met it was a match made in heaven.  Kelly was one of those dream clients who trusted us completely.  For that we are always grateful.  Bold chevrons, sherbet gradients (the table linens, the bridesmaids dresses, table numbers!), huge balloons … we had such a ball!  Scott Chester was there to capture all of the gorgeous details, all of which were coordinated by Ashley Baber.  The one and only Sun in My Belly catered.  Cator Woolford Gardens was just glowing.  Congratulations Kelly + Drew!  We wish you all the best…

Call for Interns!

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY OF WHAT YOU MAY BE DOING : :

flowers!   ♥   schlepping (sorry, just part of the job!)     sweeping the floor     painstakingly cutting out 300 placecards     working behind the scenes of a wedding     organizing the studio     making 2000 feet of fabric garlands     *some heavy lifting     being an extra set of hands for photo shoots + events

*THIS IS NOT A PAID POSITION. HOWEVER (!), SOME PERKS INCLUDE : :

getting to take home flowers after events   ♥   dinners/meals while working   ♥   working with some of the coolest wedding vendors in town   ♥   hands-on, invaluable, creative experience   ♥   learning how to arrange flowers ao style!

We would like to find someone who has flexible availability (obviously most weddings are on the weekends, and most of the production happens toward the end of the week); a car to schlep around town, or to get to/from events; a design background/interest; and, above all, a positive attitude, good energy, and knows how to be a team player. Someone who is not afraid to sweep the floor (and to see when those things need to be done). And every bit of crafting skills are welcomed, too!

Please browse through our website + blog to get a good feel for everything we do. If this sounds like your cup of tea, please send us an email at hello@amyosaba.com to set up an interview. We would love to meet you!
