Some call it the best coast, we are just going to call it a new home. Jessie and I are getting excited to snap that golden California sunlight. Quite probably a killer road-trip through the south western route of the USofA to come… Oh Snap, we are moving!

To set the tone I am going to start with an excerpt that is so fantastic there is no need for imagery to follow. The following is from Kpoene owner of Mignonette:
“I grew up watching my mother sew, and my earliest memories are of visiting the fabric store with her on Saturdays, playing in the fabrics and running my hands through the loose buttons in the bins.”
This last week I was very fortunate to accompany Kpoene at the Vintage Bazaar Popup Shoppe which took place at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. The event was a Bridal show mixed with eccentric vintage items that one would find at Bazaar. After writing that, it seems the event’s title was spot on. Kpoene brought quite a few of her demi couture custom bridal gowns from her Lakeview shop Mignonette, with accessories and models in tow.
I love to watch the process of setup because it speaks volumes of the creative person behind it. In this case it was Kpoene, so I was sure to get there early. Tables were going up, Kpoene was laying out jewelry delicately displayed in an array of small containers flaunting their unique details, the hair, makeup, and dresses being collaboratively fussed over.
All in all the show was a hit, the models wore her dresses fantastically, and all who attended gawked as they began to imagine themselves in her dresses. If it was a competition Kpoene totally won.
Thanks for the adventure into your love, Kpoene.

I absolutely love this photo for one thing, it captured that moment before the model has anything to do with the camera. This always has the potential to be awkward. Should I have introduced myself before snapping a few frames? But the result is this wonderful tension, where there is a short moment of honesty.
Thanks to Kpoene from Mignonette Bridal for letting me capture this moment. More to come soon.

Today while I was running errands for Simply Jessie Photography at Indie Wed, I had the chance to take a few minutes and photograph in my opinion some of the most beautiful cars ever produced. Here are some details of the Ravenswood Event Center, and some of my favorite out of their collection.

I am so very excited to bring you this Woodland Inspiration Shoot. A group of talented vendors got together wanting an inspirational shoot void of pastels and pretty pinks to bring imagery to the bride with a love of nature and the beauty in the barren winter months.
Katie from Jayne Weddings first hatched this idea and put together a gorgeous tablescape with the help of Fleur and paper goods by Ruby the Fox. Katie describes her idea, “ We set the table to reflect how long she waits. Woodland creatures take over the once lush table, flowers are replaced by items found on the forest floor, but the candles still flicker and the linens still gleam a bright shade of purple. Using candle plates instead of typical salad plates brought a nice matte black finish to the table. The chairs were wrapped in a braided fabric rope to make them look festive, but not over the top. Bundles of sticks were wrapped in matching mini rope as a “favor” to the guest.”
We asked Brit Cooper Robinson to be our woodland bride. Shelby Smith and Dena Miller helped us with hair and makeup to create a edgy yet regal look for her . The dress was custom made by the super talented, Mignonette Designs. (more to come from Mignonette soon)
From the shoot, Put Down the Bourbon shot and edited a short video with original music from Paper Door enjoy.
