On a weekend, I usually go to a grocery to purchase some provisions needed for the week, from the food I’ll be consuming, for my personal hygiene and just anything I craved for eating. I pick up stuffs from the stands and put it on my grocery basket and off to the counter. When paying my items at the grocery store I’m always fascinated with the computer they are using and of how the store manages all their retail items.

Are you wondering what kind of computer system these stores are using? This system is called POS system or “Point of Sale System” this system is used primarily for efficiently managing the retail goods of a store.POS computer system can take a form of a simple adding machine to a more complex machine. The most basic POS computer system used is the electronic cash register. After choosing the things you need to purchase, you walk to the counter and the cashier will scan your item and the POS systems will do the rest. Sums up your items and give receipts, It can also store sales data report for the owner can check the total sales.
