Hi! My name is Teddy, and I am 2 year old, 15 pound (full grown), adorable, sweet, friendly, male Terrier mix!
We all knew there was something very wrong with my leg, the docs thought it was dislocated and broken, but the orthopedic clinic was worried (after seeing my x-rays) that I had some horrible fungal infection or even cancer at the joint, and might need amputation of the leg, or even of the leg and part of my pelvis! Ack!
They did surgery on me today though, and guess what? It wasn't nearly as terrible as they feared! Turned out I had a plain old, garden variety break at the top of my femur, but the bone that broke off had gotten lodged in my joint, causing all kinds of pain and difficulty. Today they gave me a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery (such a fancy sounding thing, right?), and they say I should be in tip-top shape in a mere 2 months! We'll need a bunch of physical therapy, but then I should be terrific. I am so happy and am so lucky to have had the greatest vet folks in the country working on me. And they were so nice too! :)
I hope you can ChipIn to help the rescue folks pay for the surgery. It was wonderful of them to get it for me, it's sad to say, but in lots of rescues and shelters, they would have had to just put me down, even a great guy like me, because I had an expensive (though treatable) injury. I would be so grateful if you could help with my expenses, I am such a loving, wonderful little boy!!
