Artfully Teaching Academics Since 1981
Surrounded by eight acres of rolling woodland, the Minnesota Waldorf School (MWS) is a haven for curious minds, active bodies and growing children.
Supported by almost 100 years of successful Waldorf pedagogy, our school is an extraordinary find. Academics are skillfully woven with music, movement and art, and children become lifelong learners: curious, motivated and conscientious.
It’s More Than a Brilliant Curriculum
For nearly a century, Waldorf school educators have understood that learning is attained through a thoughtful process of curiosity, contemplation and discovery that develops the mind as well as the physical, emotional and social aspects of each individual child. Built comprehensively from the foundations of a holistic philosophy developed by Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf schools are unique in the modern world.
Our curriculum is comprised of a strong core of humanities and sciences, which is carefully and creatively integrated with art, handwork, foreign language, music and movement. Teachers are trained in Waldorf methods that help unfold each child’s innate passion for learning. Children flow from home-life activities and imaginative play in preschool and kindergarten, to marching math games and building projects in early grades, and then advance to scientific discovery and critical thinking in the upper grades.
Throughout their journey, our students transform their individual sparks into remarkable human beings, well-prepared to face the challenges of our world with courage and compassion.
Receive the children in reverence; educate them in love; let them go forth in freedom.” – Rudolf Steiner
