Sorgenia Group is one of the leaders in the Italia free energy market

The Sorgenia's shareholders are the CIR Group, the Austrian company Verbund, the company's management and Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank.

 

CIR is the industrial holding of the De Benedetti family. Its main aim is the creation of value for its shareholders and over the last few years it has been active in the development of new projects in diversified sectors, amongst which the energy business.
In addition to energy, the company is involved in media (with the Editorial Group L'Espresso) and car components (with Sogefi).

 

The Verbund Group is the leading electricity operator and one of the most important Austrian companies listed on European stock markets. Verbund produces power and owns the plants with the lowest environmental impact in the European Community. It has an installed capacity of 9,000 MW and owns the Austrian high tension grid, with all its important interconnections with bordering countries.

Part of the shares are also held by the company's management: a young group, with clear strategic vision and a strong know-how of the market, which has chosen to take part directly in the entrepreneurial risk of the company. An ulterior part of the shares are also held by Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank.

Presently, the CIR Group has a 65% stake in Energia Holding, with Verbund holding 35%. Sorgenia holding (80 %), Verbund (16.9 %), the Management (1.9 %) and Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank (1.2 %) control directly Sorgenia SpA.
