Is this program available in the Sacramento area?
I used to live in San Francisco – but my daughter cannot find a job, she is 18 and lives in Sacrameto. Any resources you can direct us to? It would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
Throughout the country, most counties offer employment services through their One Stop Centers. Most One Stop Centers have partnered with local summer youth employment programs in the past and will probably be able to provide you with resources in your area.
You can visit www.servicelocator.org to find a One Stop Center near your.
Or in the Sacramento area, you can visit the youth employment services page at seta.net/youth, which highlights some programs available to young adults ages 16-21.
One final option is contacting your local department of education, which is often involved in the development of summer youth employment opportunities as well.
How can I turn in the application if I am currently away from the SF area but will be back during the summer?
Please contact one of the providers listed and see if they will accept your application through fax, email or postal service/Fed Ex.
Can a parent turn it in?
Yes, your parent may turn in your application on your behalf, as long as it is accompanied by the required documents and your signatures.
If you sign up for another program such as YouthWorks, will it affect your chances of getting an internship at SYEP?
Unfortunately, all efforts to employ youth this summer are being coordinated through the same agencies, so if you are accepted into more than one program, you will be asked to select which program you would like to participate in.
