About

pencil talk is a blog devoted to exploring woodcase pencils and related topics. Of course, it is also more than just that – it is a meditation on the basic tools used by writers, artists, students, and office workers, and how these tools influence us.

Suggestions for topics, proposals for guest articles, and correspondence are always welcome.

I am neither a manufacturer nor marketer of pencils, and have no affiliation with the pencil industry. There are no advertisements at this site.

There are often questions about where to find items seen here. Suffice to say, considerable effort has been put into finding unusual items to feature. I will try to help if possible.

I also receive a number of questions about the value of pencils. Alas, very few pencils, even those that are fifty to one hundred years old, command more than new quality pencils.

I hope you enjoy the blog.
