Waconia 2011 sets attendance & Trail Ride records
We had several committee members count the trail riders as they passed through a single-file "pinch point". No one counted less than 800 vintage machines --- we did not count any newer model snowmobiles.
Check out this display of special Rupp machines in the Ballroom.
Rupp clothing on display in the Ballroom.

This Rupp NITRO was auctioned off for $ 4,500 --- all proceeds to Ronald McDonald House.

How big is the Waconia event?
This event is so big it took aerial pictures to show you the scope of the action:
This shows Saturday's action --- On lake are the straight-line ice drag track and ORA oval racing track. Notice that there are over 900 trucks/trailers parked on the lake in the background!
This shows Sunday morning action --- judged show area in the forefront, ballroom to the right and behind it the swap meet area. On the lake are the drag racing lanes to the right, parking to the left and oval track in the background - courtesy of Mike Revier Sky Photos (952-471-7600)

Sunday swapping is FREE:
We want to encourage sons & daughters to purchase a sled and rebuild to ride in our next year's trail ride. No charge for your swap space on SUNDAY.
No registration or trail stickers needed to attend our event
Because we have a special permit for our event, your vintage or antique machine does not need a Minnesota registration or trail sticker on the grounds, on the trail ride or for the lake events.
Now, if you want to do some other snowmobiling in Minnesota on your classic machine, be aware that Minnesota honors another state’s snowmobile registration for up to 30 consecutive days of your stay in Minnesota. However, If your out-of-state snowmobile does not have any current registration then you would need to apply for the MN collector permit (free) or collector registration ($ 9.50). Your out-of –state snowmobile would also need the trail sticker to operate on state or grant-in-aid trails unless you have the MN collector snowmobile permit.
If you have questions about snowmobile registration in Minnesota, call the Dept. of Natural Resources @ 651-296-2316, or 1-800-285-2000.
