Allergy Treatment

What are allergies?

Allergies are the immune system’s toxic overreaction to substances that are themselves non-toxic. For example, many people are allergic to airborne particles of dust, pollen, pet hair, and mold, as well as food particles from corn, wheat, and other grains – all of which are not toxic in nature. We must understand that allergies are NOT something we have to live with. It is possible to “retrain” the immune system and become free of allergies and their debilitating symptoms.

What causes allergies?

When a substance enters the body that it deems to be dangerous, it reacts by forming antibodies. These antibodies attack the foreign substance causing the many symptoms of allergies, including swelling, runny nose, burning eyes, itchy throat, etc.

Airborne allergies:

Airborne allergies are the body’s harmful overreaction to airborne substances that are not actually harmful. Airborne allergies, also known as IgE mediated airborne allergies, elicit an immediate or slightly delayed response by the immune system, resulting in symptoms such as hay fever, hives, and asthma. While these allergies are not generally life threatening, they can drastically alter the quality of life of the sufferer.

Food allergies:

An allergic reaction to food occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks certain proteins in various foods we eat. There are two types of reactions: Immunoglobulin E (IgE) reaction, and Immunoglobulin G (IgG) reaction. IgE reactions are more immediate and generally occur minutes or hours after a food is ingested. These are also more obvious reactions often resulting in swelling, rash, and in severe cases, asphyxiation. On the other hand, IgG reactions are more difficult to detect, with the effects occurring subtly, sometimes for days after the food is ingested. These allergies can only be determined by the difficult process of eliminating suspected foods, or by advanced testing.
