Welcome!

Welcome to The Lens Loves! We’re so excited to have you here!
The Lens Loves was created after realizing that while there are tons of wedding inspiration websites, there really aren’t any portrait inspiration websites. Places where you can go and see beautiful sessions by awesome photographers and be inspired by the stories, outfits, locations, and people. Our hope is that you will be able to find that on this site.
Be sure to check out the “real portraits” section. That is where our photographers will be blogging their favorite sessions. And be sure to leave them comments so they feel the love and will continue to post their great work!
We are currently looking for:
- Awesome, fun and unique maternity, newborn, kid, family, and senior sessions to feature on the main site. Photographers who are featured on the main site are eligible for submission into the photographer directory (coming soon!).
- Real families that have beautiful family sessions and stories that they would like to share with our readers.
- Contributors who would like to write about anything having to do with portrait sessions (outfits, tips, etc).
If you would like to submit a session or story for consideration please email leslie@thelensloves.com. If submitting a session please email the link to where your session can be viewed.
Thanks for visiting! We hope you are inspired by all the beautiful work featured on this site!

In and Out of the Oven – Mo Hines Photography
Posted by The Lens Loves on October 13, 2011 · Comments
Love this bump and baby post today! This beautiful Mama came to Seattle photographer Mo Hines Photography early in her pregnancy to discuss maternity pictures. The maternity session took place in December. And they had a rare sunny day in Seattle! When their daughter, Malia, was 6 months old they returned to the very same park for more pictures! I love the concept of going back to the same location for both the shoots!
Thanks for sharing, Mo! We love your work!

What To Wear – Unconventional Christmas Colors
Posted by Leslie on October 12, 2011 · 1 Comment
Typically when you think of Christmas, you think of red and green. Sometimes even red and black plaid with black patent leather shoes for girls and dressy sweater for boys. Well, this year, think about something out of the ordinary when searching for clothing for your family’s Christmas card photo. Why not try yellow, turquoise and gray?
This is such a hot color combo right now and just happens to be my very favorite combination! In fact, I love the color so much that my Holiday Card last year was yellow with bits of Turquoise. Come to think of it, the year before was also this same color palette! Did I tell you I love this color combination?
I created the below What to Wear Inspiration board based on this color palette and on a dress that I actually own! I am thinking of wearing this dress in my family photo this year. I just have to get the rest of the family dressed! It was easy to create the board below because I found the super cute patterned dress from Carter’s. However, in my family there are no girls (besides me) so finding something with these colors is a little harder for two boys. I will continue my search and perfect my family’s wardrobe for the holiday photos. Meanwhile, be sure to check out the awesome clothes I put together for your What to Wear Inspiration this week!!
Remember to think outside the box for your color palette this Christmas! And finding the perfect photo card to match is just icing on the cake! Check out the cool cards I found to go with this wardrobe!

Vintage Style – Jamie Rubeis Photography
Posted by The Lens Loves on October 10, 2011 · Comments
As soon as I saw this session by Las Vegas photographer, Jamie Rubeis I fell in love. The colorful backgrounds, simple outfits, and beautiful light made for a gorgeous shoot. These images remind me of something you would see in an Abercrombie Kids catalog! Here is Jamie’s take on the session:
“I am kind of a fan of vintage styled shoots. Anything with old cars, broken down barns or even ghost towns like this one make for such a fun session. These kids were too cute! The girls were my little models the entire session. They would let me pose them and place them anywhere and they really loved having their pictures taken. I even brought some headbands I had made the week before to the session and they were completely thrilled to use them in some of their shots. Their little brother made me work for his smile, but it was worth the effort to see the moments I captured of him.”
You would never know that little guy made her work! Thanks for sharing, Jamie! Can’t wait to see more of your work on The Lens Loves!

Beach Babes – Kansas Pitts Photography
Posted by The Lens Loves on October 7, 2011 · Comments
One of the best parts about being a mom and a photographer is that you get to experiment with your own children. Florida photographer, Kansas Pitts Photography, did just that with her two darling daughters. Kansas wanted to capture her daughters in a way that is soulful and inspiring. I’m pretty sure she did just that!
7 year old Olivia helped style her shoot. They chose to shoot in a bay close to their home. The balloons have white led lights inside of them (fun idea!).
19 month old Presley Grace’s was a little under the weather for her shoot, but you could never tell!
The canopy bed is actually a bed from Ikea, branches from Kansas’ backyard, and a sheer curtain from Walmart!
The beautiful blanket that Presley Grace is wrapped is from All That Ruffle and the headpiece is from AdoraBelle. So timeless!
Hopefully this shoot will inspire you to try something different and unique for your next shoot! Thanks Kansas for sharing!

Friends With Benefits – Amie Hansen Photography
Posted by The Lens Loves on October 6, 2011 · Comments
As most moms know, it’s hard to get into pictures with our kids. We’re always the ones behind the camera recording the memories. South Dakota photographer, Amie Hansen decided to do something about that and photograph the moms in her children’s playgroup. All these women have helped her grow her business by caring for her children while she works. And I love that Amie writes, “Each one of these moms as been there for me in caring for my own children while i am out working on shoots. But not only that they are so loving and warm mommies to their children and to mine as well”.
For these mini sessions, Amie wanted to focus on the moments between moms and their kids rather than the posed shots. Just moms and their kids having fun. I’m sure these moms appreciated and loved these images. What an amazing idea for great friends! Thanks for sharing with us, Amie!
