I have determined I will differently in 2012 than I ever before. I have determined, through the empowerment and guidance of the Holy Spirit, I will live differently in 2012 than ever before. I have determined, through the encouragement of brothers and sisters in Christ, I will live differently in 2012 than ever before. I have determined to live for HIM on purpose, with intention, deliberately, willfully.
You may be asking yourself “Shouldn’t she be doing that already?” Of course, however, I have found, over the years, my living has become a duty, filling a need not necessarily influencing a heart. I found my living to be more focused on how I feel rather than living obediently ~ living obediently on purpose. Living became rote, not real. Can you relate? This year, 2012, I am determined to be intentional about living, serving, loving and investing in others. Not because “that’s what I’m supposed to do”, but because I love HIM.
I’ve assigned January, 2012 as the month to INTENTIONALLY and specifically pray for my husband. No longer am I offering up blanket prayers such as “Lord, bless him today” or “Lord, watch out for him today”. NO! If I’m truly going to live INTENTIONALLY, I must pray INTENTIONALLY and specifically for my spouse. For that reason, I joined the 31 Days To Pray For Your Spouse Challenge. If I honestly intend to pray for my spouse ~ on purpose and deliberately ~ I needed accountability and prompting. Is that too honest? I want to be honest, honestly. I no longer want to send up umbrella prayers, prayers that just knock the rain off. That changes in 2012!
What about you? What’s your word and how are you living it out so far? Please link up below so we all can read, rejoice and rally!

Hi Stephanie,
What a great word! I love it. Intentional will really direct your focus to the area God wants you to hone in on.
I have never had a word for the year before but this year God gave me come. He also gave me a verse to go with it.
Revelation 22:17
The Spirit and the bride say “Come!” And let the one who hears say “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes to take the free gift of the water of life.
Blessings,
<
Love this Stefanie! You’re right about getting stuck in a rut and going through the motions – not because we care any less but usually because there is so much on our plates. Being intentional will bless you as much (if not more) than it blesses others. I’m praying for you!
PS: It was you who first got me to even consider a “word” to live by and after much prayer, God chose Grace for me. Couldn’t have come at a better time.
In His Love,
Felecia
Stefanie, I love the power behind your words today, the determination to do things differently. You GO girl!!!
Intentional is such a great word! I need to Intentional listen to the Lord and study Contentment so I gain insight. Amazing how all these words overlap. Have a wonderful day!
Great post! I too have been doing the 31 day challenge. It’s been so good to pray differently for my husband. It is the first thing I do in the morning, I love waking up before him and praying for him as sleeps next to me!
Great word to live by! Thanks for visiting me at Doorkeeper (reneeannsmith.com/). Blessings!
Love it, Stefanie! Love it!
my word is focus! which is similar for me to intentional. i love your thought on prayer with intentionality. a really good one for me to be more intentional about.
What a great word for 2012. I think much of my life in the pass has been done on cruise rather than with intentions.
This is very similar to my word Purposeful! I love the comment you made about umbrella prayers…that hits home with me! I too need to be very intentional/purposeful about how I pray!
Kristin
Intentional. Good one.
Mine? Self-Control…aye, aye, aye.
Love that you are hosting a link up on this today – I just happened to write about this exact topic so I linked. Thanks, Sweet Stefanie!
Cool! Didn’t know you were doing a link-up here, and I had not heard of the 31 Days Challenge you mention. Going to check that out. I can relate to what you are saying here. Being intentional really takes a lot of effort, but I agree that it is how He wants us to live. Great post.
Intentional. So needed this word reminder today. As I set out to be more and follow my one word in 2012…I need to be intentional. Thank you so much Stefanie! Blessings.

My word is Surrender…and I am finding that there is more I need to fully surrender to Him each week! And I am doing it with intention just as you spoke of in your post.
joy & blessings to you,
Alida
My word is also Intentional.

“Intentional” is the backbone of every OneWord. If we aren’t intentional with our OneWord365, then we aren’t going to see it impact our lives.
Great post.
That’s a great word, Dear. I thought of focus and faith
I love it! I will be intentional as I PURSUE Him, others and my own health in 2012. I linked up!
I didn’t blog abut it, but my one word is RESTORE. I want to RESTORE my faith, RESTORE my health, RESTORE my education (went back to school) and RESTORE my joy.
hi Stefanie,
i wanted to re-connect with you since its been a while and ive been out of the loop, so to speak. but im back now. ive been enjoying the silence, just writing and reading.
the reading on the book is slow-going. i have two books im reading right now–one is for a bible study. feel free to email if need be! just wanted to let you know it may take me a few months of nightly readings to get there, friend!
i like your word–intentional. that is the way i want to live too–intentionally. i dont just want the waves of culture to carry me. i want my life to be a fragrance to Him, but i need His help for that everyday, and i just take it minute by minute.
feel free to catch up with me on my blog!
