  • Rinee Shah, POD art director open Seinfeld-themed art show.

    February 10th, 2012 / Comments (6)

Rinee Shah is an Art Director at Pereira O'Dell and she's having a very cool Seinfeld-themed art show opening next week in the mission called Seinfood: An Art Show about Nothing.

The show is at kitchenware boutique Pot + Pantry and will feature illustrations of the food items from Seinfeld episodes. Black and white cookie, marble rye, drake's coffee cake, you name it.

The opening reception is Thursday, Feb 16th, 7-9pm at 593 Guerrero St. and if the poster is any indication, this will be a great show.

  • Dave Merhar joins Bodega.

    February 10th, 2012 / Comments (0)

spacer New York/San Francisco-based content creation/production company Bodega has signed award-winning director and former agency creative Dave Merhar. Merhar comes to Bodega upon the closing of his L.A.-based production company, Mortar.

Says Bodega Executive Creative Director Adam Reid, “Dave is a mega-talent and a true hero of mine. He is a triple threat: he understands branding, comedy and visual effects better than any creative I’ve ever worked with.”

Congrats. Good to see new talent coming to the city.

  • Swirl is running for the seals. Are you?

    February 10th, 2012 / Comments (0)

Local shop Swirl has long supported the Marine Mammal Center, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, by creating pro bono websites, social media initiatives, and environmental and print ads. On Saturday, March 10, 2012, the agency will hit the ground running, literally, by participating in their Run for the Seals two- and four-mile races through the Marin Headlands. (All proceeds from races will directly help sick, injured and orphaned marine mammals.)

"We live in a place, a global destination, that's known for its stunning beauty and commitment to environmental progression," said John Berg, Swirl's Managing Partner. "As part of this community, we consider ourselves stewards of our natural habitat and our call to action is to really do what's needed - whether it's developing memorable creative or pulling on our running shoes - to bring awareness to The Marine Mammal Center and keep our ocean healthy."

If you're interested in running or just donating to the cause, check out all the details here.

  • Who wants to shoot a machine gun at a truck via the internet?

    February 10th, 2012 / Comments (1)

If this is not what the internet was invented for, we'd like to see what is. SF production company Kontent Films along with Sony Playstation (client), Deustch LA (creative), is allowing some lucky people the chance to shoot 100,000 machine gun bullets at a truck over 2 days via the web.

You can sign up here and hope you get the chance to take out some frustrations on this soon-to-be-scrap-metal ice cream truck.

  • How they made the Goodby/Chevy/OK Go video.

    February 10th, 2012 / Comments (0)

We all saw during the Super Bowl that Goodby, Silverstein & Partners (GSP) teamed up with OK Go to create yet another “first” for the Chevy Sonic—the first car to create a music video (which has already been viewed 10 million times). A specially designed Sonic, a two mile track made with 1157 homemade instruments and a few stunt driving classes for the lead singer made it possible.

Now they've got a behind-the-scenes video out that shows in more detail how they did it. Check it out.

  • Young ad peeps - the deadline for the IAAS program is today.

    February 10th, 2012 / Comments (0)

We're always looking to improve the San Francisco advertising community, so we were psyched when we saw the 4As (American Association of Advertising Agencies) is coming to San Francisco with its Institute of Advanced Advertising Studies, February 16-May 24.

The IAAS is an educational initiative targeted to beginning ad agency professionals/recent college graduates with four or less years of experience in advertising disciplines including creative, media, research, planners, account service, public relations, digital and direct marketing. Attendees will be creating a campaign for their client - The Microsoft Store.

It's a great program and something you really should consider attending if you're new to the biz. Get on it though - the registration deadline is today.
