I'm struggling with learning how to light photographs of glassware without falling victim to bad shadows. I'm actually struggling to learn how to light most photographs. Today I was attempting some side natural light with a bit of bounce, but unfortunately I ended up with some more badly lit photographs. It may be the fact that it was dismal for most of the day and the light was bad. Or the fact that I know nothing about lighting photos. Either way, the results are in, and they aren't so great.
Still, it's a chance to share a couple of interesting pieces I have found recently. This one is a very old Agee Pyrex container. I think that the bottom glass has lost almost all of it's former green coating as there is still some flecks of green. I use it to hold my buttons (and a pincushion):
The other piece is this Butterfly Gold printed pitcher:
Eeek! The quality of the image is crap, but the pitcher is super cute. It is tiny though, maybe only about 500ml, so a bit useless for lemonade. Maybe it could be used for sauce to go with the casserole in a matching dish.
If you have any ideas for upping my photography skills (other than trial and error) let me know below, I'd love some suggestions.
