Oodles Of Doodles
by Violet on September 21, 2011
Doodling is generally considered a mindless activity, something to keep your hands busy while you’re on the phone or in a meeting. There’s no right or wrong way to doodle making these little freehand drawings an incredibly creative art form. From ink to thread to wire to metal, see what the lowly doodle can become.
Oodles Of Doodles
Clearly a shop called DoodleCats will have what we need. This pack of ten postcards features two each of five different illustrations which have been hand drawn then digitally colored.
The Doodle Jewelry collection at Tickette is meant to capture the spirit of hand drawn doodles. Using silver plate, gold plate or in this case black coated metal, their designs have a definite vitality. This one is entitled Connect The Numbers.
Remember sitting in class doodling on the margin of your math book? JanneKelly takes that to the next level with her hand embroidered doodle on a page from a vintage math textbook. (From the symmetrical look of her organic design, I think she’s taking a few math principles into account!)
A zentangle is a stuctured, contained doodle that features repetitive patterns. Ps And Qs used this technique to create this striking family of wooden nesting dolls. Be sure to read the delightful story that accompanies the listing!
Deceptively simple, this wee Doodle Tab Necklace has a lot going for it. I love the way AG Ambroult oxidized the entire thing, then polished the squiggle back to silver to make it pop.
Hand drawn doodle flowers from EYESView are available as a digital collage sheet. The gentle colors accentuate the sweetly simple illustrations without overwhelming them.
Finally, Mirthmarket’s handpainted wooden heart is the centerpiece of this lightweight, colorful ring. Pink and coral doodles are separated by fuchsia dots all on cheerful berry red background.
Happy Stalking!

I never thought doodling will become as creative as this. Usually I throw the paper I used to doodle after seeing what I have just created. These doodles are artistically created. Nice!
