Snow Day

Yo! Google Friend Connect is going away, so subscribe to my RSS feed if you don't wannna miss a thang! Thanks for visiting!

There’s something about a snow that gives you permission to stay in your pjs and on the couch. It’s a day about hunkering down and spending time with the family. But when you have a three year old who woke up at 5 am and came screaming into your bedroom to tell you that it snowed, you may have to bundle up and go outside.

I must admit, his excitement was contagious. It reminded me of when I was younger and the thrill those fluffy white flakes gave me. My friends and I would spent hours outside playing; building snow forts, throwing snowballs, and making snow angels. The numb fingers and toes did not stop us. We were out there until our parents made us come inside {with hot chocolate waiting for us!}.

So I can’t really blame him for being so excited. I just ask that he waits until 7 am to shout it from the rooftops!

My Dear Child

January 4, 2012 by Steph

All of my days start
because of you,
my dear child.

spacer
Did you know that?
Everything I do is because of you.

spacer

From the moment I wake up,
I get up and go for you.

spacer

Having you around has brought me a joy
I never could have dreamed of.

spacer

Joy I never knew existed.
Love I never thought I could give.

spacer

My dear child,
now I am beginning to understand, or rather,
beginning to feel that precious bond I was so uncertain of.

spacer

That quiet connection that has always been there.
Right from the very start.

spacer
It was always there between us.
At the very beginning,
it welcomed you into our lives.

This is How We Roll

January 3, 2012 by Steph

On our very first trip out to Target {I know, I know} with both kids, the hubster and I scratched our heads and said, “How do we do this?”. Truth be told, I never thought about how we would go out shopping with both kids.

Enter the “huge cart.” {That’s what E calls it.} You know the ones, with the extra seat on the back {or is it the front?}. Thank goodness Target has these huge carts. E loves sitting in the back {front} and B is pretty content on top, especially now that he can sit in the seat.

But when I’m all by myself…watch out! I have a hard time steering the damn cart and E doesn’t help with jumping around or off the cart.

The grocery store is a whole other ball game. When Ben wasn’t able to sit in the seat, I had a dilemma on my hands. The car seat didn’t fit in the bucket. I couldn’t put the car seat in the cart. Where would I put all the groceries?

Enter the wrap.

I wore that baby every time we went to the grocery store. It was a God-send. He would sleep and I wouldn’t have to rush in the store.

Then there are the car carts. I hate those things. E loves them! Guess who wins that battle?

spacer

He practically begs to ride in them. But I have to remember to buckle him in or else he just jumps right out and runs around the store {and adds what he wants to the cart}!

I couldn’t even imagine going to the store if I had a third. The hubster and I were just talking about this very thing the other night in the car {no, we are not planning on having another. We were just talking.}. He asked “Where do you put the third one in the car?” Silly hubster.

You don’t squeeze them in back, you buy a new car!

The House That E Built.

December 27, 2011 by Steph

Back when we had that pesky little Irene pass through, we were dreading about having to find things to keep E preoccupied if we lost power {which we, thankfully, never did}. The hubster had bought a wet vac that night and wouldn’t you know the best thing came with that wet vac.

A box.

A rather large box.

As soon as the wet vac was out of that box, E was right in there. I then got the brillant idea to turn that box into a little clubhouse. E jumped right on that. He informed me that it needed a door, a window, and a pitched roof {like Blue’s Clues to be exact}.

Ask and you shall receive.

We not only “built” a house. We also painted it.

Two weeks after we assembled the house it was still there. Every time I thought it was safe to put it out for the trash truck, he would insist on playing with it. It was as if he could sniff out that I was itching to throw it out.

Eventually the clubhouse bit the dust but the memory of working on it together has not.

wordless wednesday

December 20, 2011 by Steph

The other night we ran to Target to do some last minute Christmas shopping. After we were done, I ran quickly into AC Moore. As I was walking back to the car, I was greeted by this.

They were getting bored waiting for me because I was “taking a long time.”
Oh! Did I also mention that he was hanging out the sunroof while I was walking across the parking lot? Oh yeah, there was that too!
