Taking Valentines day to the office with full on girly workwear, read: Lavander blazer, baby pink lips, florals, ribbons and curls. With such a naturally romantic style like mine, it’s so fun and easy to dress up for the day of hearts! Even structured pieces -like a blazer, or trendy looks- like print on print, can look super sweet when done the right way. What do you think about my look?

I can’t get enough of hearts day outfits! This is for the simpler lot who don’t like dressing in girly pieces. A simple pop of red on a plain monochromatic outfit does wonders, especially if it comes with a cute heart shaped patch! I opted for a clear crystal necklace to add a hint of glamour. I wish I had more transparent neckpieces. They just offer the perfect emphasis to an outfit without overdoing it! Edgy romantic looks are always so interesting and  mysterious, don’t you think?

Another look with my favorite pony pouf! Seriously, it’s starting to make being lazy in the morning totally worth it. And you know what else I have in repetition for you? Another valentines day look! (and more coming at you!) I guess my naturally girly style is making it easy for me to come up with a multitude of date night outfits! This time, I’ve layered on a monochromatic teal base, starting with a sequin on sheer top and ending with a wool mini. I kept the colors cool and faded with light gray leather platforms and a simple drop dangle earring from my mom. Finally, to add coverage and a bit of contrast, I topped it off with a bright abstract print kimono top from Eudora. Now, I look like a carrot. Carrots are sweet, aren’t they? teehee. What do you think?

    Platform Perfect

    by Kryz

As you may have noticed, a good number of the outfits featured in my blog posts are worn with platform shoes. Platforms offer a huge number of style benefits – here are just a few of the reasons why you might want to consider giving them a go if you haven’y already!

    spacer spacer spacer

Of course, one of the main reasons why people love to wear platform shoes is that they give you extra height. If you dream of looking taller (and slimmer!) then these shoes can offer the perfect quick-fix solution. For many, they are much more wearable than high-heeled shoes, due to the fact that the foot is usually positioned at far less of a steep angle. This can make it much easier to balance – making platforms a great solution for those who find they struggle to walk in high-heels and stilettos.

    spacer

Platforms can also help to create an elegant silhouette, especially those which take the form of boots. Tuck your trousers, leggings or tights into your platform books to create a streamlined effect within your look. Platforms are better than heels for this, as the sole runs flat along the floor, and will not draw the eye away from the rest of your apparel. This is ideal if you want to show of a statement belt, or a sparkling 77 Diamonds ring, and other such accessories. Keep your clothing simple, and avoid bold prints or patterns in order to make sure your accessories remain truly eye-catching.

    spacer

Lastly, platforms offer much more opportunity to create a statement with your shoes themselves! Not everyone will be confident to wear an entire leopard-print dress, for example, and wearing to much of a trend can kill your style. However, by incorporating just a touch of leopard print into the platforms of your shoes, you will be able to give a subtle nod to the latest trends, without overdoing it. Almost any fabric or design can be incorporated into platform shoes, making this style of shoe the perfect way to keep up with the latest styles and looks.

Here’s another V-day option. I’m addicted to red skirts! And at this time of year, anything in red spells L-O-V-E! Add a romantic floral belt and my favorite pony pouf and you get an instant flirty outfit ready. To keep my look from going overly sweet and school-girly, I added edgy accessories, which complimented the subtle metal collar detail on my top.

Also, did you notice my killer shoes? It’s the exact same style as my leopard print ones! I couldn’t get over it’s awesomeness, and just had to get another color! I’m a sucker for accessories with pony hair, and when I saw these with the unexpected spikes, I died.  If you’re planning to get yourself a pair, they’re really sharp, so be careful!

And finally, as you read on my blog title, I’m having another giveaway! YAAAAY! This time its OPEN TO INTERNATIONAL readers from one of my favorite online brands, Romwe!

To all you lovers out there, here’s a simple valentines number I put up for you. Simple pieces made dramatic with this amazing red chiffon skirt. To keep it young and flirty, I wore floral wedges in bright teal and kept my hair up in a bouncy ponytail with my new favorite hair secret, the Goody Pony Pouf. You just snap it on and it livens up your ponytail! And of course, what’s sweeter than gold and pearl accessories? What say you?

    P.S.

To all those wondering what happened in Cebu today, here’s a quick low-down. At around 12 noon, there was a massive earthquake that lasted for quite a while, during which, I was mid-shampooing at the salon! Everyone was running out of the building and I was forced to join them in my soaking wet hair and robe! It was frightening and hilarious at the same time- but everyone was safe!

After that, I proceeded to go about my day, starting with a meeting and ending up at the office for work. 5 minutes in, we get a call from my Mom saying people were panicking where she was at, because there was news that a Tsunami was coming at 3PM. It was 2:45, and I was a stones throw away from the Pier. Yes, it’s improbable for a tsunami to hit Cebu because of our geographic location, but when people start to panic, you tend to just throw all logical thought and save your ass. So we left the office in a rush, and got caught up in terrible traffic with the view of people running for their lives right outside the car window, some crying, some carrying the Sto. Nino (a religious icon/patron saint of the city), and some with missing pieces of clothes. In other words- Pandemonium!

Watch people running from downtown Cebu here.

While this is what was happening in Downtown Cebu.

I turn on the local AM radio station and get confirmation that there was in fact no TSUNAMI but a tsunami alert #2 just to keep people vigilant. So I calmed myself down, turned off crazy driving mode and listened some more. Turns out, AM radio is wildly entertaining! Makes you appreciate the language so much more! My panic quickly turned into comical relief.

There have been many aftershocks but nothing severe. Thank you to everyone who emailed/tweeted/messaged me. I feel so blessed to have people concerned about my well being. So thank you very much! I will however ask you to pray for those in other provinces that have been hit badly by this incident. My nephew’s yaya lives in Negros Oriental, and her house was swept away by the waves. Im sure there are more stories like hers and I urge you all to join us in praying for everyone’s safety and recovery. Hopefully, the worst is over.

I was looking through my old photos in a futile attempt to clean out my files, and through the embarrassing, hilarious and crazy memories, I noticed a couple of things:

    1. From 2007 (5 years ago! OMG!) and below, everyone wore jeans everyday- at least at the places I went to! School- blue jeans. Church- blue jeans. Work- blue jeans. Party-blue jeans. Tops were the big players in the market, and jeans were a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. Life was so simple!

    2. There was a point in time where everyone had at least one long gold necklace with a pendant hanging below. It was THE accessory du jour, and the more vintage it looked, the better! I remember having one with a maritime emblem and an image of Queen Elizabeth behind it. It was my moms, and I had it on all the time!

    3. Cardigans were sort of my thing during college. I had one on me every single school day! I think my love for outerwear started out as a necessity- needing cover ups for air-conditioned classrooms, and post training (I used to be a dancer) comfort. I had cardigans in all colors of the rainbow!

I guess after revisiting all those university photos, I talked myself into reviving my old collegiate fashion habits- blue jeans- check, cardigan- check, long necklace-check! I just added a few trendy styling practices to keep it up to date, like print on print florals and the monochromatic effect to elongate my silhouette. What do you think? “COOL-lege” material? lol (laughed my butt off when I heard Mike say that corny joke!)
