Read in the Bathtub Day!

Posted on | February 9, 2012 | 1 Comment

Ever since I’ve started using  a social media calendar, I’ve been reminded of odd special days. Take today for example. Today is Read in the Bathtub Day!  I’ve searched all over the Internet — well not really all over, just page one of Google search results —  and found that the origins of this special day is unknown. Whoever started this might have thought of this as  joke but book lovers (raises hands) surely caught on.

Review of World Topps Valero

Posted on | February 6, 2012 | 1 Comment

You gotta love group buying sites. I was able to save a couple of thousand last year on food and wellness deals. More than than, I was able to try some of restaurants that I’ve never dined at including World Topps in Valero Plaza, Makati City.

A Tribute to Abraham Lincoln

Posted on | February 1, 2012 | No Comments

I am not American and for those who know me, I will never choose to be. I am proud to be Filipino and would rather stay in my country rather than seek pots of gold abroad. But being Filipino will not stop me from admiring a man who was much loved by his contemporaries and to whom millions of African Americans owe the freedom they are enjoying today, Abraham Lincoln

Kate Beckinsale Continues to Kick Ass in Underworld: The Awakening

Posted on | January 24, 2012 | No Comments

Fans of the Underworld franchise flocked to the cinemas last Friday, January 20, to watch the fourth installment of this gothic vampire vs. werewolves tale. Underworld: Awakening resumes from where the second movie ended and begins with the genocide of werewolves and vampires. Selene (Beckinsale) and Michael decides to move out only to be bombed to oblivion by human forces. Or so we thought.

Wheatgrass Makes Sense to the DJ

DJ George drinks wheatgrass to control hyperacidity.

DJ George of pop/R&B station Wave 89.1 (FM) shuns dependence on anything that doesn’t work. Like medicines, even if prescribed.

In June 2011, the 38-year old radio DJ/voice talent/events host thought she was near death when she felt chest pains, couldn’t breathe and belched so bad.

Based on lab tests and images from a camera inserted over her throat, she was told she was suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Her ENT doctor prescribed a medicine which DJ George described as a proton inhibitor. (GERD is a condition in which food or liquid comes up from the stomach into the esophagus and can cause heartburn, nausea, chest pain and other symptoms.) Read more

A CBTL Christmas Story at Ortigas Park

Posted on | January 9, 2012 | 2 Comments

“Worthless people live only to eat and drink; people of worth eat and drink only to live.”

Socrates had that one right. One of the best days of December 2011  happened over cakes and coffee at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf branch in Ortigas Park with friends.

Jambafied! My Jamba Juice Experience

Posted on | January 5, 2012 | No Comments

One of my favorite sitcoms is The Big Bang Theory and I’ve heard its characters mention Jamba Juice several times. Leonard, in particular, would try to bribe Sheldon with a Jamba Juice smoothie and this made me wonder if its drinks are indeed as spectacular as they seem to be.  Fortunately for me, Jamba Juice opened its first Southeast Asian location in Bonifacio High Street last year, allowing me to sample their media-worthy drinks.

The first drink I tried, if I’m not mistaken, is the Strawberry Whirl. It’s flavorful, thick, and creamy as they said it would be. It does taste good but I find nothing exceptional init. I like their Peanut Butter Moo’d better, which tasted like my favorite Chocnut.
