Bat-Manga: The Secret History of Batman in Japan Though the superhero originated in the United States, it traveled to Japan in the mid-1960s in the form of "Bat-Mania" hot on the heels of the classic live action Batman television series, where it immediately won an extraordinary level of popularity. This exhibit explores the phenomenon through the original artwork and memorabilia of Chip Kidd's collection, the basis for his 2008 book of the same name.
