A new beta version of Weaver II is available. If you are just getting started with Weaver, the Weaver II beta is stable enough that you are likely to be happier by switching to it right now, rather than waiting for the release version.

Since Weaver II is a brand new theme, it is now available from its brand new website: WeaverTheme.com. Please visit that site for the beta download.

For those of you who have been testing Weaver II Pro, it is also available for download using the same address, but using -0-6 for the version.

The easiest way to upgrade is using Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrade

For those of you who had links to the Weaver II Pro Beta, just change the version to -0-6 to get the latest version.

Weaver II 0.6 has several minor bug fixes, plus one major new feature for the Weaver II Pro version – the ability to have a totally separate set of theme settings for the Mobile view.

We are pleased to announce the release of Weaver II – Beta 0.3.

Weaver II is based on Weaver, and represents a major upgrade and rewrite of the pervious Weaver theme. Users of Weaver will find Weaver II familiar, yet with an easier to use design interface, and many new features.

Here’s a short list of just some of the new features in Weaver II:

1. Improved Admin interface. Many of the options have been reorganized, with options now organized around the area of the site they affect.
2. Totally new sidebar and widget area arrangement. Weaver II now supports up to 3 sidebar arrangements. You can select different sidebar arrangements globally (e.g., post pages, static pages, and archive type pages). Better yet, you can set the sidebar arrangement individually for each static page on your site if needed. But this does mean you may need to reorganize your existing widgets to match the new ones.
3. Mobile Device support. Weaver II now includes totally integrated Mobile Device support. It automatically adjusts many aspects of your theme to fit and work well on smartphones and other mobile devices. Unlike other WordPress Mobile plugins, Weaver II makes your mobile site match your main site instead of creating a completely different look. Your site will look really great and be easy to navigate on Mobile Devices automatically. And, of course, there are options to fine tune things for Mobile devices. And Weaver II includes a Mobile Device simulator so you will be able to see just how your site will look on typical smartphones!
4. Brand New Header Widget Area – Weaver II has added a powerful new feature for designing a truly unique site header – the Horizontal Header Widget Area. By adding text widgets, you could build a header with a slideshow, a new custom banner, and even a menu.
5. HTML5. Weaver II now uses HTML5 features to organize the content of your site, including the use of the new tags <article>, <header>, <footer>, and more. The basic content organization of Weaver II is based on the great design used by the default WordPress Twenty Eleven theme.
6. Dozens of new options. Weaver II includes many new options – all based on the input of hundreds of users of Weaver.
7. Weaver II Pro. For users who want even more advanced features to fine tune their web site, a premium version called Weaver II Pro will also be available. It offers all the features of Weaver Plus, plus many new features. Weaver II Pro is now totally integrated with Weaver II, so it is much more natural to use. But even without using the Weaver II Pro version, the functionality of the basic Weaver II theme has hundreds of easy to use options to customize your own site.

Simply put, Weaver II is just better. It has more features for making your site look exactly like you want than almost any other WordPress theme – free or premium. The interface is easier to use than ever.

Because Weave II represents a major re-write and has a fundamentally changed architecture, Weaver II is not 100% compatible with the previous verion. It will require a small effort to migrate old Weaver sites. Weaver II will automatically convert almost all of the old settings, and step you through the rest of the manual adjustments required for widget areas and page templates. And best of all, you can easily try out Weaver II without losing any of your settings from Weaver. Just switch back to Weaver after trying Weaver II – but you probably won’t want to go back.
