WHO IS NCB?

Writer, Editor-In-Chief, architect of “content”, and friend to cats, Noah Callahan-Bever is me. Yerp. This guy. Since 1997, when I lucked into an apprenticeship with the fine fellows of ego trip, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity of writing a gang of articles, scripting a few TV shows, A&Ring a record or two, making a couple magazines, and, for the last five years, holding down the very fortunate position of E-I-C at Complex.

During this tenure I’ve enjoyed the challenge of helping founder Marc Ecko and CEO & Publisher & Man-With-Plan Rich Antoniello turn our successful but modest bi-monthly print magazine into a beast of a media network whose flagship site, complex.com, leaves Sasquatch-sized footprints all over these here internets. So, in the immortal words of Tim Dog, “STEP TO ME!!!”

Of course, full disclosure, I’ve done absolutely none of this alone; I had the most sage, patient mentors coming up and am presently supported, above and below, by the smartest and most nimble team in publishing. But enough about all the people to whom I owe this massive debt—let’s get back to me, NCB!

Like I said, before graduating to coach status, collaborating and strategizing and becoming really O.C.D. about google analytics, I used do a lot more writing. I thought some of it was pretty good, too. Unfortunately, I recently noticed that almost nothing I penned prior to 2006 has made its way onto the internet, which, these days, means it might as well have never happened. So in the interest of creating a personal archive, and maybe entertaining a couple ’90s babies for whom this would be new material, I decided to cobble together this site (with the help graphic-designer-to-the-stars, Michael Cherman) to post my prior works, showcase some stuff from Complex that I’m particularly proud of (like our covers), post the interviews done with me, and maybe even tell some of the stories-behind-the-stories (you know, if I find myself in a sentimental moment or something).

So yeah, there ya go, that’s who Noah Callahan-Bever is and what ncb1979.com is about. Did I mention I like cats?
