Snowman Food: Snowmen that melt in your mouth

Published 8 December 2011

We got a little snow yesterday.  It snowed for about an hour, never stuck, and was gone as quickly as it came.  It was enough to thrill my daughter to no end, however.  She stood on the back porch, all bundled up so you could only see her little eyes and nose, laughing and laughing.  The funniest part about our little “snowfall” was the reaction from family and friends who don’t live near us.  Apparently, everyone has been on snow watch…I kept getting phone calls letting me know it was snowing at my house (courtesy of the weather channel report) even after it was mostly definitely done snowing.  I suppose they are vicariously experiencing the snow through us (although I need someone to vicariously experience the snow through too, since it is NOT snowing!!!) I keep hoping that we will get some real snow that sticks before we head out of town for Christmas. I’m crossing my fingers…but so far to no avail.

While the weather outside may not be frightful…inside is nice and warm.  There is something about the cold weather and bundling up inside that makes me hungry.  In keeping with the snowman theme I’ve been on this week…I went in search of some yummy snowman food to keep us company while we wait for the return of our friend frosty.  I created a pinterest board of fantastic, yummy snowman food ideas.  Here’s a little preview:spacer

Some of these snowmen look amazing and some seem pretty simple to do  too.  We’re gonna give a few a try this week.  There’s just something about fun food that I think makes it all taste even better.  Perhaps it is just the festive nature of the food….or it could be all in my head, but either way I’m going to enjoy it!!!  Maybe we can inspire the snow to fall so we can eat one snowman while we build another.  Either way…I’m going to have to whip up some homemade hot chocolate to enjoy with my snowman.

    Snowman Crafts: Snowman Card Tutorial

    Published 6 December 2011

Since the snow is not a -fallin in my neck of the woods….I have a very disappointed 2 year old.  I have been talking up building a snowman for weeks and she really, really wants a “dough-mam” (I love her cute little attempts at words).  I asked her what she wanted to build a snowman for.  She stood there for a minute with her face all pursed up in deep thought and then proudly proclaimed “I want to give a dough-mam to Daddy!”

Well…we may not have real snow…but we can definitely make a snowman for Daddy…We made a snowman card…and since I have been obsessed with snowman crafts the last week or so, I thought I would share it here with you.  It’s a very simple card and you can download the  Snowman Card Template here to make your own.  spacer Continue reading

Snowman Crafts: That snowman is crafty…

    Published 5 December 2011

We sing a lot at my house.  Its kind of  a given, especially around the holidays, if you hang out around us for very long you will sung at by someone (even my almost one year old will sing unintelligible songs to you). We sing just about everything.  Don’t know the lyrics, eh…no problem…

This is often the case with one of my favorite Christmas songs…Frosty the Snowman.

“Frosty the snowman, was a jolly happy soul…with some kind of a pipe and a nose and eyes made out of something else…”

Yep, this legitimately came out my mouth yesterday…sad really, but I can never remember how that song goes.  It always ends up with thumpity- thump-thumps that merge into a hybrid “Peter Cottontail meets Frosty mash-up”. (Side note: I realize that the words to Peter Cottontail are actually “hippity, hoppity”, but I sing that one wrong too.  The important fact here is that NEVER remembering the words to this song has NEVER stopped me from singing it. Christmas Cards: Show a little personality…

    Published 2 December 2011

December is here…what does that mean in the Lasha house???  It means I can officially start openly talking Christmas.  We have an agreement that we wait until December to go full out with Christmas.  Covertly, I have doing Christmas since before Halloween.  I have had almost all of my Christmas shopping done since the beginning of November (I got a bit of a late start this year).  I know I’m a little over the top when it comes to Christmas though, and most people actually wait until after Thanksgiving to get started.  I, however, have been chomping at the bit to get going with a little bit of Christmas Cheer.

Since it’s December, I thought it was a great time to introduce my line of photo Christmas cards.  I’ve also added a new page to the website to display all of the Mimi’s Dollhouse holiday and special occasion cards.  Be sure to check it out.spacer Continue reading
