Who am I?

  • I am first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ!
  • I have been married to my husband NP for 9 wild years of exhilarating mountain tops and dark, scary valleys. God has been faithful through it all!
  • We have three children – our sensitive and shy daughter AG is five, our crazy NASCAR-loving son LB is three, and our sweet baby BW joined the family in December of 2010.
  • I am a full-time homemaker and will begin homeschooling AG for kindergarten in the fall of 2011. I am one of those crazy people who uses cloth diapers, makes homemade baby food, mills my own wheat, and uses homemade laundry detergent. What began as trying to cut corners as truly broke newlyweds has turned into a real love of homemaking.
  • I have a Bible degree from Cedarville University; while I may not technically  have a “job,” God has brought so many rich opportunities my way to use the gifting and training He gave me! My husband and I are passionate about small group ministry and I adore walking with women deeper into God’s Word in ladies Bible studies. I recently was asked to serve as the women’s ministry director at our church, and it is a privilege and honor to serve in that role. My writing here is in spurts due to the demands on my time during this season of life.
  • When I first began blogging my blog was known as “Run the Earth, Watch the Sky.” On that blog I had shared more recipes/ homekeeping/ homemaking/ homeschooling/ crafting content. Why the switch? If you’re looking for that information, there are so many bloggers doing that – and doing it well! It became clear to me that God was steering me to a more narrow focus: walking with women into the riches of God’s Word, teaching them to study, helping them develop a bigger view of our awesome God.
  • The Lord has burdened my heart in recent years about the issue of human trafficking. I am committed to the ministry of Women at Risk, International, and if you hang out here or on the facebook page for a while I hope that you learn more about this issue and the many ways we can make a difference!

Random facts about me that will make absolutely no difference in your life:

  • I could drink only coffee all day long. I would like to take a moment to apologize to my kidneys…
  • I hate the word “impactful.”
  • I was planning to be a high school math and science teacher before God switched me to Bible! So, I ended up graduating with a Bible major and math and chemistry minors. I’m truly a nerd at heart. :)
  • I know my library barcode number by heart, but can’t remember anyone’s phone numbers.
  • I can talk to someone for half an hour and not recognize them the next day! If everyone would just always wear a nametag and never change their clothes and hair, I would be so much better off.

I’m so glad you’re here.  I hope you feel welcome to jump into discussions, leave comments, find me on twitter or facebook, send me an email - let’s chat!

I hope that you will also consider following in a reader or subscribing through email!  I pray that this blog will be a blessing and encouragement in your walk with Christ.  So, grab a cup of coffee, relax, and make yourself at home… there’s a lot to explore!
