Reuse It: Milk Carton Storage Box

Looking through Pinterest, I was amazed to see how many times the Milk Jug Lunch Box idea has been pinned. Then, it occurred to me I never shared that this was an idea I did do at home, not just blog about on Lunch It Punch It.

I filled my gallon jug with paper, string, glue stick and a pen so that I can make Valentine cards on the go.

The Kroger milk jugs have a bubble unlike the one in the example photo (not shown), so mine has an odd shape. I also cut down a half-gallon jug to see what it would look like, but I haven’t filled it. But it is ready for small items.

I know when this was posted on LifeHacker people commented on the Facebook post that it was gross to pack a lunch in it, I guess they thought you packed a sandwich loose in the container, not within sandwich bag?? I don’t know about you, but even though I use a lunch bag, I still use containers inside not just dump spaghetti in the bag – ha! Others said plastic bags are better, which is fine if you’re not looking to reuse something headed to the recycle bin.

I bet you're here because you're looking for a project idea or recipe, but go ahead and add udandi & the craft of money's RSS feed to your reader. Or follow me on Facebook and Pinterest for stuff too short to post on the blog - Andi

    Creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip

by Andi on February 5, 2012

    in food

Are you ready for some football? I only look forward to the big game for the food, the halftime performance and the chance to sit around with friends. If you’re looking for a quick recipe to share, try this one. Hopefully there will be some leftovers for lunch!

    creamy spinach dip

    Creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip

    2 packages of cream cheese
    1/2 cup mayo
    2 tbsp lemon juice
10 oz of spinach thawed and drained
1 can of artichoke hearts drained and chopped
    3 cloves of garlic
    1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Mix cream cheese and mayo until smooth.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix.
Cook on 375 for 20 minutes covered and then cook 5 minutes longer uncovered.
Serve with tortilla chips or pita triangles.

My other Spinach Artichoke Dip was posted a couple years ago during football season, I see a trend…

    February 1, 2012

February is Library Lovers month so I thought I would feature some projects made from old books. I am not advocating using library books for these projects, but rather a reminder to check out your local library for craft books and book fair or sales for old, ripped, stained books that can find new life [...]

    Year of the Water Dragon

    January 24, 2012

Sunday in preparation for the Chinese New Year, I cleaned out my kitchen cupboard and freezer and made food with what I had on hand. I came up with cream of chicken and wild rice soup, which is my most favorite soup and the most visited post on this blog thanks to being a copycat [...]

    Recap: Startup Weekend Northern Kentucky

    January 16, 2012

I attended Startup Weekend and I got more than this t-shirt. Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets – primarily software developers, [...]
