Why does blue and white always grab my attention and make me stop and stare? It doesn't matter what it is, if it's blue and white, I am drawn to it like a sailor to the sea……Blue and white reminds me of summer days on the ocean, hydrangeas in full bloom against a weathered bench, shiny white sailboats gliding through the deep blue sea. My favorite things in nature inspire some of my favorite interiors.

What Inspires You? Where do you Start the Design Process?

We get inspiration from nature and all the wonderful colors and textures found in nature. Beachy colors of soft blues, greens and sand tones. Textures of sea grass, rattan, and wicker. We love pops of sparkle with glass lamps and antiqued silver, copper and brass. A mix of old and new to give the home a timeless touch. We love pieces that have been touched by nature...like sea glass floats that have been in the ocean for decades and show time worn imperfections or an old lantern that was once used on the deck of a ship. We emphasize comfort and warmth along with creating a home that fits the personality of the people who live there and their lifestyle.

Your home should nourish your soul and there is nothing better then coming home to a a soft white throw and snuggling up on a a chaise lounge by the fire.

What are your Favorite Paint Colors for the Coastal Home?

We are drawn to a neutral palettes of blues, greens and sands. These colors are soothing and calming. They remind us of our summers on the beach. Some paint colors we use... Benjamin Moore's Patriotic White ( a very soft blue), Seafoam ( a very soft blue green barely there), Healing Aloe, Manchester Tan, Linen white, Cloud White Ralph Lauren's Agave Blue suede paint (Dreamy blue. With the right lighting it looks like your under water, perfect for a guest bath room with lots of white trim.)

How Can You Freshen Up Your Home?

There are so many ways to freshen up your home. New paint is one of the best ways. Lighten up your space go with calming neutrals. Add color through accents... pillows and throws, a beautiful blue and white bowl filled with your favorite sea shells. Add a new sofa and keep it neutral and classic with slip covered pieces or leather for a warmer look. A new area rug can change the whole look of the room and anchor the space. Go with a natural jute or add beachy color with a crisp striped rug. Change your bedding..make your bed room your sanctuary. Soft organic linens will not only look wonderful but you will sleep better too.

Get rid of clutter ..edit, edit, edit. Start by taking all the accessories out of your room and then putting back only your favorites in groupings of three's..odd numbers always is much more pleasing to the eye.
