Featured Beauty Blogger: Nikki of Askmewhats

Written by Chrissy on February 10, 2012 · 11 Comments

Hi everyone! Today I am featuring a blogger and makeup artist whom I was fortunate enough to get to interview. Nikki Tiu of Askmewhats is one of the biggest reasons why I first really got into makeup and beauty blogging in the first place. This was why I was really happy when she responded to my request to feature her for my blog. I’m sure that by now AMW is a sort of household name when it comes to Filipina beauty bloggers. She is one of the top bloggers in our fair country and there is no denying this fact. You can see the love and hard work that she [...] Read more »

Sweet and Sultry Valentine’s Date Step by Step Makeup Tutorial

Written by Chrissy on February 8, 2012 · 15 Comments

With Valentine’s day getting closer and closer, more and more makeup tutorials and looks are coming out to help ladies who are going out on a date with their significant other (or with the girl friends, if you’re single!). Here’s my little contribution–a sweet and sultry Valentine’s date step by step makeup tutorial. I was originally going to make this in video form, but as I was short on time today, I decided to make a pic tutorial instead. In my opinion this look is something that can take you from day to night. It’s subtle enough to wear in the day, but with a little further darkening of the [...] Read more »

On Fake MAC Cosmetics and Counterfeit Makeup in General

Written by Chrissy on February 6, 2012 · 50 Comments

We’ve all been there-seeing an online listing of an item for a too-good-to-be-true price and wondering if we’re looking at fake MAC Cosmetics or a counterfeit makeup product. Let’s all admit: bargain hunting is the way to go when it comes to online shopping. Saving money is one of the biggest goals when buying online, so a good deal may seem irresistible. But before you buy something, stop. Ask yourself first- is this an authentic MAC product I am buying? Is there a way on how to spot fake MAC Cosmetics? Counterfeiting vs Private Labeling There is a big difference between counterfeiting and private labelling. Private labelling is something that we are [...] Read more »

Snoe Beauty Hair Heroes “Intense Argan Oil”

Written by Chrissy on February 6, 2012 · 7 Comments

I need a hero! Well, more aptly said, my hair does… but! Silly, nerdy references aside, my hair does need a hero. You may not all know this, but my hair is curly. As in, curly. And not the pretty kind of curly–I get the kind where I look like a hurricane tore through my hair. Most of the time, I tie up my long hair. If I ever wear it down, then I do need a glob of product to keep it nice and neat. With curly hair comes the territory of the ever-feared ‘frizz’. There are many reasons that this might happen–the weather in our fair country, the [...] Read more »

Beauty Pro Crazy Colours Palette Review and FOTD

Written by Chrissy on February 3, 2012 · 55 Comments

Happy Friday! I’ve already written a review about the Beauty Pro Cosmetics Sweet and Smokey Palette. This time around, I’m going to be reviewing its twin, the Beauty Pro Cosmetics Crazy Colour palette. I also did an FOTD with this palette, just because the colors truly made me feel like playing with it! Oh, this palette makes me happy inside–just cause it’s so colorful! Again, this palette and its twin are the brainchild (brainchild..ren?) of beauty maven Bridgitte. As the name of this palette suggests, it’s the more colorful, crazy choice between the two palettes she recently released. What is Beauty Pro Cosmetics Crazy Colour Palette? Well, aside from the obvious, this [...] Read more »

Daytime Date Valentines Makeup Tutorial Video

Written by Chrissy on February 2, 2012 · 46 Comments

It’s less than two weeks before Valentine’s Day is here and by now you’re probably trying to figure out how you want to look on the special day–and this is why I made this Daytime Date Valentines Makeup Tutorial Video. I personally like wearing colorful makeup whether it’s daytime or not, but I know that not everyone likes to pile on the colorful eyeshadow. This is basically why I decided to make a neutral makeup tutorial video this time around. If you would like a variation, I’ve also written a neutral with a twist makeup tutorial a few weeks back. I think this week is another improvement over last week’s red [...] Read more »

Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Toner Review

Written by Chrissy on January 30, 2012 · 26 Comments

I’ve had several questions about the Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner. Ever since I wrote the post about my current skin care routine, I’ve received several inquiries as to the quality and performance of this toner. This is why I decided to write this skin care review so that any questions anyone might have can be satisfied. To be quite honest, this toner is something that I’ve been using for quite a long time. I first discovered it in 2009. Three years have passed and I’m still using it to this day. I’ve fallen quite in love with this product and I am pretty sure that I will [...] Read more »

Red and Gold Makeup Tutorial Video

Written by Chrissy on January 25, 2012 · 30 Comments

For tutorial Wednesday, I’ve created a red and gold make up tutorial video. The lunar new year was just a couple days ago, which is why I decided to go with a red and gold theme to fit the occasion. I know, I know, I’m a little behind, but to be honest I think that this look is still wearable in the daytime-Lunar new year or not. If you darken the look a little, it’ll look even more amazing at night! This look will look great on warm skin tones so if that’s what you’ve got, why don’t you give this look a shot?:) I think I did much better in this [...] Read more »

How to Determine Face Shape

Written by Chrissy on January 25, 2012 · 14 Comments

Determining face shape can be just as important as finding out what your eye shape is. This is because there are many advantages to knowing what you’ve got and I can personally attest to this. When I was first starting out with makeup, I guess you could say I was clueless (thanks, Captain Obvious! Isn’t everybody clueless when they start something? ), and because of that I was doing things that weren’t doing me any good. What’s worse was sometimes I could be doing things that didn’t work for me at all. This is why you really should determine your face shape if you haven’t already. Why delay? What is [...] Read more »
