Taking inspiration from 90′s minimalism, Reiss SS12 attributes the clean lines from past Calvin Klein campaigns, and the appeal and vintage cut  of Jean Paul Gaultier.

Playing with measurements, materials and layering ensure that the clean lines of the 90′s silhouettes feel fresh and modern. Layering separate materials in new lengths creates a distinct softness and heralds a ‘new way of dressing,’ which is both feminine and wearable.

Print injections enhance this further, as sheer fabrications are overlaid on colorful prints. Prints of various colours are also pieced together or inserted with sheer panels.

Knitwear ranges from micro wool to chunky stitches, in chalky pastel tones and soft neutrals.

THE TRENDS

Structured tailoring and playful textures make up the essence of COQUETTE CHIC, where strong tailored silhouettes are created in heavy geo lace to give newness and power to occasion dressing.

The High Summer collection nods to 40′s POOLSIDE, as swimsuit pin up Ester Williams becomes the poster girl for this look. Holiday wardrobe favourites include: printed shorts, crop tops, sheer pleats a plenty and a hint of cheekiness with semi sheer dressing.

Mixing butter-soft leather biker jackets with fluid printed maxis, 1971 goes GLAM GRUNGE this season. Drawing inspiration from 90s supermodels, this story looks particularly to The Face’s early 1990s Kate Moss shoots by Corinne Day.

THE DETAILS

A study of PRINTS is evident this season. The journey begins organically with intricately hand drawn florals, which are repeated and distorted to give a more graphic illusion. Hand drawn birds are digitally printed onto smoky backgrounds and insect wings are blown up to become unrecognisable.

Watery abstracts and stripes feature later for a poolside vibe. Unusual coloured, almost snake-effect textures in print and burnout feel effortless, versatile and easy to wear. Clashing palm prints and botanicals are styled together for a playful juxtaposition.

A PALETTE of irresistible neutral tones is complemented this season with pastel hues of mint and apricot. New depth is added with shades of auburn. Pops of aquamarine and citrus yellow feel fresh when used in prints and burnouts. Whites are layered together in soft sheer and structured fabrics, and then mixed with creams and metallics for a fresh and modern approach.

THE ACCESSORIES

Pastels mix with black to create a ‘sweet minimalism’, or opt for graphic monochrome or vivid colour blocking for a more dramatic effect. Exotics include snakeskin and nubuck crocodile, and metallic details appear on toecaps and heels. Sculptural clutches are oversized or small and include 3-D detailing. The ‘new’ bucket bag features a contrast edge stain and nappa leather ribbon tie. Coloured thread is woven through elongated chain necklaces for added texture and belts sit neatly on the hip.

GGL Bags

GGL stands for George Gina Lucy — a line of handbags created by Germany-based designers Nicholas Neuhaus, his wife Nicole Bailly, and their common friend Oliver Bruno in 2004. I have bought them since and really loved each of those that I’ve had.

My Yellow Sweet Tart

I find my choices boring, really, a yellow bag? I don’t know why I bought this piece but I don’t regret it, size-wise I can put my camera in it (a bulky Canon 7D with an 18-200 lens), a flash, make-up minibag, wallet and some more stuff. There are 3 main zippers with the middle having three smaller pockets.

GGL's signature Clamp

I might have mentioned this before but I’ll mention it again, each bag has a unique name and when you first buy it, the tag includes a “how to take care for your GGL bag.” Some of the tips there is to take time to talk to it, never leave it in the dark, call it by name and some other unconventional caring tips.

Since this bag is bigger than the usual, the clamp, a trademark GGL feature is symmetrical to the size. The boys (sons 1&2) would often play with it and thank goodness I haven’t lost it yet.  Chunky zippers, multiple pockets, rings and rivets are to be seen as most GGL bags does.

I mostly use this as a messenger bag, if I had a baby this one would be a perfect baby bag. ^_^ The shoulder belt is adjustable and removable too so it also is a good handcarry. I don’t have the exact measurements now but my A2 folder fits in perfectly…the downside is this color is prone to dirt, like the other one I have which is in white, it’s quite obvious that I’ve used it for some time now. Which is about 6 months. spacer

Functions as a travel bag, me somewhere in Prague

Given the chance to buy again, which will surely be not in the near future I’d get any of the two below or one in black and purple or petrol and black or plain black. What color would you like to have?

New Cath Kidston Bags

spacer The ever-popular Cath Kidston bags have been updated with side gussets to give you more room, and now comes in new designs too. Well, the one in photo might be old but I’d definitely get this for my daughter. She’s been using the same bags for years and she has none of those waterproof ones. I got introduced to Cath Kidston by a friend who loves them.

Been reading reviews here and there but mostly of other makes. It’s great to know that on one site I visited, a representative of the brand is answering negative feedbacks and offering renewals. Most of the complains are about the magnetic catches tha are easily removed. Hopefully they get to make it better. Anyway, would still love to buy this one, all girlish, pinkish and fits my daughter well. It’s a messenger style too, she wouldn’t complain as she would with backpacks. ^_^

H&M makes shopping for Kids much enjoyable

Let me rephrase the title. H&M makes shopping for moms easier — by installing game consoles in selected stores. Those are X-Boxes my kids played with as I search for stuff, not only for me but for them as well. I had to disturb son1 a bit for him to try the shoes on.

I find it really convenient. There are stores that have television installed in a small corner, some pillows on the floor where kids could wait as mom or dad shops for their shoes or pants but my kids agree that this is cooler! They get to play and save their feet from pain of too much walking around. I, could also look around with less complaints from them. teehee.

That day, even though I’ve finished shopping, they still wanted to stay and finished the game – they said we don’t have it at home, that’s why. Thanks H&M!
