SynapSense® Data Center Optimization Platform

SynapSense®  Data Center Optimization Platform

Overview

spacer SynapSense® is focused on the most critical components of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM): power and cooling infrastructure. The SynapSense Data Center Optimization Platform saves up to 50% of cooling energy, while delivering tangible ROI for our customers.

In a recent survey by The 451 Group, 36% of respondents reported that they would run out of capacity by 2012. As a result, data center operators are seeking ways to optimize power and increase cooling capacity. The SynapSense Data Center Optimization Platform enables customers to reclaim stranded cooling capacity and avoid the capital expenditure associated with purchasing new equipment.

SynapSense Active Control™ has a proven track record of achieving tangible ROI for customers, with payback timeframes consistently less than two years and unprecedented energy savings. The SynapSense Power Suite optimizes power, enhances ROI, and enables customers to stay within their current data center footprint.

SynapSense Data Center Optimization Platform: A Turn-key Solution

spacer SynapSense provides customers a complete turn-key solution for every project to rapidly achieve the target ROI. Working closely in conjunction with our customers, we begin by conducting an assessment to quantify ROI, including the utility incentive, energy savings, CO2 reduction and payback period.

The SynapSense engineering team initiates the optimization process by improving overall airflow management, which once complete, results in energy savings by reducing VFD fan speeds and increasing CRAH temperature set points. SynapSense granular monitoring enables customers to operate with server inlet temperature closer to the upper band of the ASHRAE Range of 64.4° to 80.6° (such as 78°), resulting in increased cooling capacity.

The SynapSense Engineering team follows the optimization process with the deployment and commissioning of SynapSense Active Control™, which maintains a continually optimized state with added resiliency and a proven track record of saving up to 50% of cooling energy. SynapSense Active Control achieves this kind of exceptional energy savings by dynamically aligning cooling capacity with changes in IT load. The final step in the process is resetting the new energy baseline and using the SynapSense metering to support the measurement and verification of that new baseline to substantiate the utility rebate. The team reviews the projected ROI against the actual results and consistently meets or exceeds the initial projected savings.
