I made some new Gocco cards today for Valentine’s Day. I’ve left them blank inside for you to add your own friendly and/or sexy message.
Check them out in my Etsy shop!
I’ve got a couple of new paintings at the Leyton gallery for their new Christmas show which opens tomorrow! I am in good company; check out this review in The Telegram with lovely praise for my friend, Philippa Jones (@philiflipjones). The opening is from 3-5 on December 3rd at the gallery, and the show runs until December 31st.
Below: Arctic Wolves (acrylic on board) and Ferryland Lighthouse (acrylic and watercolour on board).
My new set of Christmas/holiday/wintery cards are now available in my Etsy shop in sets of 4 and 8 (save!). They’re hand-printed linocuts with watercolour accents. Snowflake-printed envelopes are also included. Check ‘em out here!
My xmas card printing went much more smoothly today when I switched from a water-based ink to an oil-based ink. I think it’s because the grey linoleum doesn’t like the water-based ink very much. The water-based ink was printing quite splotchy and I couldn’t fix it.
I then did a non-toxic cleanup using a 50/50 mix of vegetable oil and white vinegar (a great tip from friends at St. Michael’s). Works really well.
The next step is to add some spot colours using watercolours, I think. They’ll be up in my Etsy shop over the weekend.
Drawn by me, coloured by Scott, and written by both of us.
I’m too old for tricks or treats (although I hope I catch the Charlie Brown special later tonight), but Halloween has become a time of pumpkin carving and special cake making for us. This year we used Rice Krispie treats to build a wall and headstone for our spooky graveyard cake!
I visited the gallery last week and took a couple of pictures. There are a lot of fun mobiles, toys, and kids’ clothing on display!
I’ll have some comic paintings in a show called kid stuff at Distill Gallery, in Toronto’s Distillery District, from October 5th to 23rd. It’s also a delightful shop with a lot of cool artist-made clothing, toys, jewelry and more. Plus, it’s next door to Soma, the amazing chocolate shop, so you’ve got all kinds of good reasons to visit.
