I’m your host, Martin Rue, a lowly software developer from Manchester, England.

I started programming at the somewhat early age of 13, when one evening I observed an older friend typing the word “gosub” on a bright blue screen. My early curiosity turned into a keen interest in programming for the Commodore 64. I would write password protection programs and record them to the beginning of game tapes. This turned out to be a fantastic way to eradicate the less frequently played ones.

Following a year off from any kind of programming, my parents bought a PC. It wasn’t long before I was trying to make sense of HTML as a result of finding the “view source” option in my web browser. Experimenting with HTML reminded me of my previous adventures in BASIC and I naively began trying to code BASIC in the web browser.

In the years to come, I discovered x86 assembly language, C, C++, Java and later C#. Today I find that my professional time is spent working with ASP.NET and C# and my free time is spent doing everything and anything that gives me that same curious drive.
